"Susan may go to Hawaii with her girlfriends? This sounds like trouble. Because you and I are such good friends, Rick, I will volunteer my time to assist them in making sure they stay out of trouble. No need to thank me...it's what friends do!
"

Bob this is why having Susan at CBMWG is a good thing even if antiques get discussed! It may simply postpone Hawaii trip discussions but once we get past winter she is more easily distracted from such trips to warm climes.  :)

That's my plan and and I'm sticking to it!

Hmmm....just placed a quick post on the CP16 specific and classified section cuz found a 16 for sale only about an hour from this epic gathering. Bet it could be had for less and already good price. Just think, for you that have been trying to avoid the inevitable, which is the ownership of a 16, here is chance to keep looking in the rear view mirror on your way home, wondering what happened?! Let's see...was drinking some beer......talking about boats......remember a drive......BAM! Oh yeah that's right got another boat.  :)

Kevin, maybe the owner wants to trade up to a 23!. Bob, if you let Linda load her up with antiques for the drive home she probably would acquiesce! Tim, that could make an even dozen, always a nice number! Pedro, it would allow you to dose yourself when those inevitable times of, what happened to my mast? happens to you!

Jus sayin!

lol....I like your thinking but I need the cash from the 23 sale to help payoff the 26. :D

Trust me i know the feeling! So hey......make an offer that includes full price on the 23 and "take" the 16 off their hands for a whole lot less than going out and buying one. We actually pursued a similar concept as one tack when No Mas was for sale, because we just knew a 16 was something we wished and many with smaller craft for sale are looking for a larger one. Would have entertained a "trade in" if the numbers worked. If it helps sell your boat by buying his and if you can live with the small reduction in profit, you get yourself some funds and a 16! Just like cars, folks usually understand they will get less than an outright sale would have provided, but they get rid of the boat (car) and get what they want all at one time. Thus why trade in value is always a lot less than retail value yet folks do it all the time. Of course this only works in this scenario if they are looking for a 23 and you want a 16! Ya never know till ya ask!

Meanwhile don't forget to bring bunches of pics of Dorothea, or is it Dorythea!  :)

Hmmm...I see the logic in your plan, Rick. Crafty, very crafty. I actually called about an older 16 on Long Island with no trailer. But all things considered, the Richmond one is a better deal. Because I'm trying to simply my life, I think I'll just get 'em both!!
Looking forward to CBMWG...admiral may be weakening...the lure of antiques is real!!!

......and Susan said she is happy to help Linda fill up both your car and a 16 with goodies from an antique shop, or two! As you have already pointed out, there is no need to thank me, it is what friends do.  :)

OBTW, the pics of that 16 seem to indicate genoa tracks. a bow sprit (along with a higher fractional rig 7/8 vs 3/4), and spreaders thus a Mk2, so more than likely she comes with a couple headsails. It is the singe most noticeable difference, to me, in our current 16 and our first one. Just being able to change the headsails, the sheeting angle and thus the slot (even can play with sheets inboard or outboard of the shrouds for grins for pointing or running) is a nice addition. If the interior is anything like our Mk2 it is a nice tic up in fit and finish from the Mk1's. Teak trim, headliner, hull carpeting, forward bulkhead into chain locker. Must admit didn't realize the Mk2's were being made in that year.

....in all seriousness though, this boat will probably not last too long. I spent months looking for one that was not too much of  a project and if she is as represented, 2k is a pretty good deal and bet 1.5k would take her.

With so many "chats" I am lost, where are we on the specifics.  What are the current locations, times, and GPS addresses for the CBWG2?  I would like to attend by driving my 149mph, 34mpg, rides like a Rolls Royce, handles like a sports car, 1990 Citroen XM V6 24, but alas, I have a minor electric glitch that over-rides the engine being able to be started. Rick, my 2006 Rav 4 rides like a truck but would have enough room . . .

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Dave,

Yup we do tend to take the shotgun approach to planning! Glad to hear you are coming. I know will enjoy the area and it will give you a chance to check out some new cruising grounds. We definitely need to do some sailing season planning!

So what finally floated to the top with discussions are the following:

When-    2/11/17    12:30 (though folks coming from afar may need some tweaking of this)
Where-   https://www.rroysters.com/restaurants/merroir
What-     Food, drink, fellowship

We certainly are making a couple day visit out of this as are some others. Be glad to give you a guided tour of the general area, ramps, cruising spots etc. I am gunna lobby for a visit to the Deltaville Marine Museum, and Pedro let me know the the old presidential yacht Sequoia is languishing in a marina in Deltaville as well, so might try to find her too. There are always the marinas (more than I can count) and boats (thousands) that are always to fun to go slip/boat browsing! It's a pretty safe activity if you only look at boats not for sale........well maybe!

Here's the update on the folks attending many of whom are spending the night and making a weekend of it. There goes any hope of us ever being allowed into Merrior again!

So her we go:
Kevin and Lesa
Pedro and Becky
Tim and Vicki
Myself and Susan
Bob and (Linda is weakening he reports so there is hope!)
Heave and (depends on his wife's work schedule that week but will be keeping tabs on last beers!)
Wayne and Phyllis
Bob mentioned inviting Rich and Gerry so that this can all be written off...might want get on it Bob! (I was talking to Rich yesterday and he made no mention of any invite, not that i inquired!)

Now we know there are many changes and events that are on-going or happened since last CBMWG. A partial list is below that we can have fun matching up with folks:  (they are not in order! but do have something to do with everyone who is coming)

My friend Flicka
Changes in latitude mean changes in attitude
Hi Yo Silver.. it's the lone Ranger! (tug)
La Dolce Vita, do you take pesos here?
We had quite an Interlude in our sailing career.
Finding Dory, AKA "that's my trip to Scotland"
"that bridge just seemed to take forever" AKA, A Bridge too Far or Urbanna bound.

Since more than a few of us are spending the night, it now appears we may have to come up with even more things to do! Got my ideas.......!

Dang it,

My son purchased Judy Collins tickets, diner reservations, and a motel room in NoVa as a thank you for taking care of him, his wife, and children in various mixtures as he made a few trips to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philly.  His surgery is doing well and he has opted to go on oral chemo in the near future to further up his odds.

The admiral says we have to go.

[As an aside, if you know anyone facing cancer, twist their arm to get a least a second opinion from CTCA.  They will fly you to a Center, met you with a limousine, and treat you as a guest as you interview their entire team assembled at your first visit/evaluation.  You will not have to assemble your own team of surgeons, oncologist, nutritionist, acupuncturist, naturopath, and etc.  Plus, they all work at the same spot and they are already talking to each other. Your traveling care-giver is well taken care of. Reduced rates, etc. for all your stays and food at a nearby hotel. They arrange for your transportation. Their first goal is to remove anything that is causing you stress like, money, for example.  I would not have believed it except I have traveled with my son and experience this phenomenal care.]

Disclaimer: I am not a salesman for CTCA and your results may vary.

Sorry to miss the CBMW 2.0. Next time the first round is on me . . .
Rick, let's do get together to do some sailing this Spring; yours, mine, or better, both.

Dave
