Alright here we go....Pedro and I spoke at length and since the Indian Creek Yacht Club folks will not welcome non-members it means either Merrior or Willabys. Either is going to be a good time.

Merrior is a pretty special place with exceptional food and definitely pricier. It also will be a bit more difficult to get seated with a large party as they do not take reservations, there is limited indoor space and they do a good business even in the off season, especially on a weekend. Lunch is definitely easier than dinner for seating and they are open non stop from 11:30 till 9 so easier to pick a time. I do not wish any to feel pinched for budget, as mentioned we watch our spending all the time, yet it is a gem for food, beverage and setting. If a doable price it will provide a memorable time for not just the company we all will bring but the venue as well.

Willabys is more like Dockside as far as menu and pricing. Dockside was where we met last year in Colonial Beach. It also has a great view, less expensive but less memorable for food, though what they serve is quite good. It closes at 3 so we would need to pick an earlier enough time to have sufficient gathering time, which is why we are meeting. It will be easier to seat a larger party because the space is far more expansive.

As you can gather it is not an easy task to pick something that will be best for everyone and there are advantages to both. I had originally suggested Willabys because it was not unlike the Dockside we went to last year, where we had a good time. I know Kevin and Lesa had changed their vote to Merrior. We stand ready to make either place happen and as i mentioned in the earlier post, if we end up at Willabys on Saturday, Susan and I will more than likely go to Merrior on Sunday for a late lunch and coffee before we hit the road for home and others are welcome to join us there if you are staying, which many are. Pedro and Becky and Susan and I are perfectly happy going to either on Saturday. We are looking forward to seeing everyone and the place matters less than the company we will have!  :) If there are no strong opinions either way, Pedro and I will make the decision for all. Ya can't lose on this one!

He and I are already planning CBMSG 2.0!

We see this as a special 'Get-A-Way' for us so we are not that concerned with the cost. I think Merrior mainly because of the time. It's a 5.5 hr ride for us so we are looking at a 12-12:30 arrival. I guess we'll just have to wing it on the seating. :)

PS. I think we'll run out of time at Willaby's.

A good point Kevin. I agree we may fell pressed for time if a late start and early end. I am certain Pedro will join me in heading to Merrior a little before arrival times for folks to start the table dance. It simply means we will start the beer before anyone else! Take that Bob!

If you guys don't figure out where we're going, I'm heading to the nearest Wendys!
Still working on the Admiral but as yet I'm dealing with the usual disinterest. It is what it is...I'm used to sailing solo.

Tim Gardner

Bob, Tell her that this may be the last opportunity for her to meet Vicki before she kills me. I overheard her praying for guidance: "Dear Lord, I know that you so love Tim that you want him by your side. Please show me the way to deliver him to you, and will obey your wish."

A tad disconcerting, and I was worried until I prayed for the Lords help to keep me here so that she wouldn't have keep up or sell the 11 boats I own if he should take me right away.

I then heard her mutter "nevermind!"

No Wendys Bob sorry! Gunna have to be Burger King for ya!

Tim I am pleased that Vicki has relented on your demise. Susan and I have been married over 37 years and we have both pondered the "till death do you part" clause more than once. Thank heaven that the "thou shall not kill" clause supersedes it. I have wondered why she has been ok with me taking up activities that could put my life at risk sometimes, hmmm.......never thought about it that way.

Kevin's point is well taken about Willabys and lets just say Merrior it is. I wasn't gunna miss going there no matter as we would have gone the next day but having folks driving so far and having flexibility in meeting times plus an incredible experience once there all added up to Merrior. It truly is the best food anywhere around there! We are driving down that morning but will plan to get there early to start the table dance. Sure Pedro and Becky will join us to help if needed. We just need to set a time that leaves everyone comfortable with the drives they are taking. Shall we say 12:30 to start the decision process?

So it is looking like:
Kevin and Lesa
Pedro and Becky
Tim and Vicki
Myself and Susan
Bob and ?
Heave and ?
Wayne and ?
working on Dave
Bob mentioned inviting Rich and Gerry so that this can all be written off...might want get on it Bob!

Now we know there are many changes and events that are on-going or happened since last CBMWG. A partial list is below that we can have fun matching up with folks:  (they are not in order!)

My friend Flicka
Changes in latitude mean changes in attitude
Hi Yo Silver.. it's the lone Ranger! (tug)
La Dolce Vita, do you take pesos here?
think we need an Interlude in our lives
Finding Dory
"that bridge just seemed to take forever" AKA, A Bridge too Far
Gunna have to get some rust marks going on the trailer

Kevin is there any way you can blur the faces on any video of this soon to be epic gathering to protect the guilty?! We are also putting ourselves at risk for never being allowed back into Merrior but it'll be worth it.  :)

......as mentioned Pedro and I are already pondering CBMSG 2.0, and I am sure Heave will want in on being part of such plans!

Well, I do like a Whopper from time to time! This is shaping up to be an epic gathering of the craziest Compac-o-nauts ever! I will be there and I'm thrilled that Tim and Vick will also be there. I still have Tim's credit card number just in case he bails on us!
Can't wait for this!!

Still working in the Admiral. I think she's weakening. She actually has a bit of a boating background. Being the oldest of 3 sisters, she was the "son" that her dad never had and as a kid, loved to go out fishing with him on his Carl Adams Skiff. Carl Adams was a locally famous boat builder in the 30's through the 60's. They would go out Barnegat Inlet and fish for who knows what. As a teenager, she was able to get into trouble with her friends aboard a Sunfish (who hasn't done that!).
She did venture out on my old Seapearl with me but as anyone who's had experience with a Seapearl knows, they are quite tender and after a capsize on which she was not aboard, that kind of scared her. It actually was one reason I bought my Compac 23- for it's good manners. But you know what they say about first impressions, so she shys away from sailing altogether. I guess she just doesn't love it like I do.
We'll see where this goes. My guess is she will not attend. But...I have a plan! Bwoooooohahahaha!!!

Mas

I hear ya! We have our little 16 cuz the owner's wife got tossed too much in a storm. It is one of the reasons i wish Susan to not be only a first mate but also a captain. When you are at the tiller in a tough situation you at least feel some semblance of control  (maybe a false sense!) whereas the mate sits quietly in prayer...."Dear Lord if we don't die i promise i will never do this again!" or possibly "Dear Lord We promise we will never do this again because i am gunna kill him!"

It was Susan who wanted that larger, (standing headroom, enclosed head, real galley) seaworthy (can handle more than the crew) boat that instills confidence regardless of her spouse.  :)

This is also the argument for a 16 as well since they are sooooo forgiving, simple and easy to handle in all situations. Susan is very comfortable at her helm.

Let Linda know, (can't believe i am saying this), that Susan loves antiquing and would go inna a heart beat. However if Interlude is not in the middle of any work, which may be the case, would be glad for Linda to get below decks......it will be the payback for the antique shop! I went looking at a smaller craft, an Orion, and Susan (who had said, ok will will go visit friends in Annapolis and look at a few boats but we aren't buying any yet..) saw Interlude after which i had to go see a marine mortgage expert. Jus sayin...you can sleep on your boat but ya can't sail an apartment. We don't live near our boat thus needed it to be where we stay as well.

Keep us posted on your plan.....we will be glad to help get her on board!

Rick: If Linda attends, this could end up costing both of us a lot of money!

Well I am not gunna escape the possibility of spending money on this one. If I discourage Susan from going (which is not the case) she will simply go out with her girlfriends, who are all discussing a trip to Hawaii to visit one of her close friends who moved there earlier this winter. Bob it certainly appears that we will need to comfort ourselves with a draft or two, or three or........

Thanks for the encouragement Tim! Speaking of hopefully.......hopefully you will be able to fit all the bottles of rum for us in your return bags from the trip.  :)

Mas - Thank you for the cordial invitation to sip (gulp) some Dark and Stormy's and share some sea tales at the CBMWG. W'd really love to attend but the Admiral has other less important but firm obligations... like work!

So, in order to understand the CBMWG I have read the entire post which has left my left brain virtually dead! I know nothing! (Thank you Sergeant Schultz). What little I do recall, seems to be that HeaveToo said "Someone needs to come up with a Brewery on the water with slips." Guess what!? Bristol Boro, PA is shortly going to have BOTH on the Delaware River. Probably be ready in 2018.

Hope you guys and gals have a great get-together. Hope some still have enough energy left for FAMWG (BBB-2016.1?) in ???

Susan may go to Hawaii with her girlfriends? This sounds like trouble. Because you and I are such good friends, Rick, I will volunteer my time to assist them in making sure they stay out of trouble. No need to thank me...it's what friends do!
