Oh, and Bob, I finally got my Edmund Fitzgerald on tap the other night at a local restaurant!  LOL

Man, I am thinking that we should make Bob bring a Keg of that down here with him!

Ok all, the time for the CBMSG is soon arriving! Weigh in on your arriving. The gathering, cookout, small craft flotilla, and party is set for August 13. The cocktail hour is 4ish with music, hotdogs, burgers, cold drinks, beer and wine to follow . A $5 buck contribution is asked from all to the small sailing club having their/our gathering there at the same time for all the food, and drinks. They have encouraged me to have us Compacteers join them, well we are part of that group too! It was also asked that we kinda split up bringing a side of beans, condiments for the burgers and dogs etc. to go with the same and other sides being brought by others in the club. Be glad to help coordinate that for us.

The pavilions are shaded and covered with, ice, cool clean bathhouses, and the usual amenities available. Very parklike there. We don't have to wait until 4. Check the thread for the local motel for simple lodging, and Willaby's Restaurant incase the weather doesn't cooperate. We are planning to get the antique dinghy wet. Bring some small craft easy to transport, there are also a few kayaks and canoes are on site. Nice islands close by. The previous posts have links to everything but check out  http://www.regentpointmarina.com  for location, directions, and general lay of the land. Do try to come for more than just a day, as there is much to do and some good places to visit very close by.

I propose we shoot for a mid day gathering time again for those can can be there then, with some being out in small craft, followed by the cookout, social time, music and hanging around boats!

Based upon the first ever CBMWG the CBMSG looks to be an event where memories will be carried. Oh, BTW Bob, i encourage you to try to drink the last beer this time. You're gunna have competition! Also all don't let PeterG's musings about us sailors having to "burn our sails and and rev our motors" before he comes be of any concern. We are all hoping he has that Tug by then! He has sailed more craft than many!

Rick, as the Holy Scriptures plainly state: The last will be first!!!!!!
I'm looking forward to this epic event and I plan to bring the Guideboat "Straggler" so it'll be there for tryouts.
I missed the Blackburn and the CLR so this will be a good warmup for the Barnegat Bay Bash, version 8.19.2016.

So Bob,

The scriptures also say something about "he leadith me by distilled waters" well something like that anyway! I am planning to bring a stash of some interesting brews you may like as well as the selection being provided as part of the event. Depending on when you get down, and others as well, we could head out to a couple of places very close by with incredible beer tap selections the night before all of this foolishness begins. Well i guess that means the foolishness would begin then:)

The game is indeed afoot and the rest of you Compacteers weigh in on timing for your arrival.

Rick:
I did look that up and you are correct! "And He restoreth my SOL". (Cervasa) We both are living proof that God has a sense of humor!!!  Looking forward to trying your homebrew. Wish I could get the Admiral down to this east coast epic event but she's digging in her NJ heels!!!

Hey Bob,

Looking forward to some camaraderie as well. So ok Heave, Kevin, Dave, others whats your timing and numbers looking like? Need folks to weigh in so can get some numbers to the club here for cookout. This is just what the doctor ordered for a mid summer retreat!

I was just checking out the Pilothouse Inn. If I can convince the Admiral to attend this epic event gathering of questionable characters, maybe that's where we'll stay. Looking forward to this break from the norm.

Tell her Lesa is going and the Pilothouse Inn sounds good. :)

Was also looking at a Comfort Inn/Holiday Inn a little further away, we don't like to rough it much when it comes to motels. :D

Guess I should make a reservation soon.

UPDATE:
After reading some reviews it sounds like this place would be much better than the Pilot House.

I will tell her...that just may swing the vote!

Hey Kevin,

The Pilot House is really simple, inexpensive, plain jane and close. Not a destination kinda place. More a place to sleep after a day not there!

The Whispering Pines is on north side of the Norris bridge not far jus gotta cross bridge and watch construction schedules. May be done by now anyway. Urbana is more of a destination as well and there is a B&B there, we've driven past but never stayed. Lillie further away but no bridge.

Really not much of anything in Topping, Wake but you know that from the CBMWG post gathering crash at PeterG's!

Deltaville is a few miles down the road but we have never stayed anywhere there. Lots of boats though! 500 people, 5,000 boats! Not heard good things about the Deltaville Dockside Inn there.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again.  :)

Here is a section of the email from the sailing club about the gathering we are combining forces on. We are E dock so we will bring a dessert. You can pick one of the other categories to bring. Maybe post it here so others can see.

We will start gathering around 4:00pm for happy hour.  I will fire up the grills around 4:15pm and start cooking hamburgers and hotdogs at 4:30 so hopefully by 5:00pm we will have some food ready.  This will be on sailing time and not a rush.  If this is your first time, get ready for a fun time!!  Helena has some new ideas for this years party.  So put on your loud Hawaiian shirts / a straw hat / shorts and flip flops and get ready to have some fun.

Dock assignments :

A - Appetizers
B -Tomatoes, lettuce & onions for burgers
C- Baked Beans
D- Potato Salad
E- Desserts
F- Appetizers

The club will supply the beverages (beer, wine, sodas & water), French fries, condiments, burgers, hotdogs, cheese, and music.

Was kinda thinking we should have some fun in our small craft earlier in the day, before the libations! Might make getting in and out of the boats easier and getting to Parrot island easier. Then again maybe more difficult but more fun is in order! Plenty of folks will be just chilling as well so no pressure to head over to the island. Just it's so close by and a nice trip.

Hoping everyone can spend the night as much to see and do in our neck of the woods. Check out some of Kevin's thoughts regarding lodging.

The below link is to the local museum. Very well done and much history represented. Lots of boats to visit.

The next link is to our favorite place to grab oh so good food and draft beer. Not a great place for large groups and can be a little pricey depending on what you get. but done right it is very reasonable and pretty dam nice. It is just across Locklies creek from Regent. Also easy to take a small boat to. Not as easy to get back!

Waiting to hear from Heave, this is a good opportunity for a spouse who isn't wild about boats but would be wild about a great time in a great place.. Bob is working on the Admiral who doesn't live for sailing either! Kevin was coming with Tim who cannot attend but we assume you are still on for the gathering. It will be good for you to see one of the closest places on the bay to get to from your home. Know Peter is lurking and has swallowed the anchor, burned his sails and is moving to the throb of diesel but also know, although Becky can't make it, that he would dare not miss something in his backyard! Not sure who will keep him out of trouble though. Aint gunna be me, so maybe Bob can......hmmm nope that won't work.

CBMSG 2016 is shaping up to be epic. Looking forward to seeing some of you again and others for the first time.

I am planning to make it.  As far as the Admiral, she probably won't.  She probably has to work and we have Verizon Fios being installed in my house on that Sunday.

I am not sure about staying overnight yet either.  I probably need admiral approval also and I am not sure how this weekend is shaping up.

Things have been crazy around here.  I am working way too much overtime, event though I don't volunteer for it, and that trend will continue through this month.  I haven't seen my boat in almost 2 months!  UGH!

Let's hope September will treat me better.  I have 10 days off towards the end of the month (anyone want to sail over to Tangier towards the end of September?).

Hey Heave, glad to hear you are coming. It would not be a CBMSG without ya! Sorry life has been so crazy, we have not been down to the boat either much in last couple weeks, mostly because there has been so little good sailing weather. Looks like the pattern is finally breaking with cooler and breezier weather happening.

Tangier still lurks on the horizon as well. Bob has been threatening to row it and we said we would be a companion vessel if he does. Maybe we can coordinate something. Let's all kick that around over a round (or two, or three!) of beer.

Looking forward to seeing you again. You came close last time you sailed to our neck of the woods.

Having cleared family obligations, I'm about 95% certain I will arrive, with a kayak.  I still would like to plan a Tangier trip in my CP16.
