Sailing on a west wind at 5 knots  boat speed. We don't get a lot of these days. Normally wind is from the south at 3 knots.

I just returned from Corpus Christi fishing the Laguna Madre.  The winds blew 15 or greater the entire time.  Not sure where you are but each time I've been it has blown fairly consistently except in the summer.  They have wind farms close to this location as an indicator to the area winds.  How much does the dinghy hanging the davits affect the boat?  Hard or soft dinghy?

thanks

Wayne,
The dingy is a 9 ft inflatable. We used to store it rolled up in the locker, so we always carried the weight. I guess if we were racing we wouldn't hang it back there, I'm sure there is windage. We plan on mounting solar panels to the davits, so if the weight becomes too much, a support can be run from the back stay splitter to each davit. By the way, they are Garhauer davits, and they are great.
