I would like some sample dimensions for 19-2/19-3 spinnakers.

Thank you,

The spinnaker. Witch kind?

Is it a spinnaker requiring a pole?
or
Is it a spinnaker that is asymmetrical requiring no pole?

Measuring? ... that would be measuring a curve. There is not a straight line on the perimeter of my spinnaker and it is tacked on the bow pulpit on my boat and the sheet to the back cleat.

Sorry I'm so dumb I can't figure out how to post my fotos of my asymmetrical, even though I studied at the 'foto class'.  But the old way works.

If it ever stops raining I'll try to lay it out on the grass and run a tape. It's in it's sack on the boat right now.

As shown spinnakers come in all sizes ... I just consider a spinnaker on a CP-0`19 as a huuuggee 'head sail lapper'.

A number of sailmakers have online quote services that will give you the dimensions of an asymmetrical spinnaker that will fit your boat.  Most just make standard models and fit one of the standards to your boat.  The smallest AS available from Peak Sails and FX sails sail store has a 23' luff which should work very well with a 19.  Keep in mind, spinnaker dimensions are not as precise as for other sails.  The above mentioned sailmakers say to choose a standard sail that is equal to or geater than your "I" dimension.  On a CP19 that is 21'9" so the 23' luff sail is about all you need to carry.  Those sails give you 230 sqft.  Punching in a custom on a 19 will bring up a 239 sqft. sail on the FX site.

If you do custom you do have the option of changing dimensions to fit the use of the sail.  For instance you can get a flatter sail by cutting the foot and midgirth down if you plan to reach more closely with the sail.  Conversely you can make it bag more by increasing those dimensions if it is only for very broad reach or run.  I got my 23IV AS slightly smaller than the standard for the boat because I wanted a sail I could handle by myself when necessary.  As it turns out, with a dousing sock, the full size sail would have been fine for single handling.

Thanks all.  I am the proud owner of two free E Scow kites, one an a-sym and the other traditional.  I did get some data off the Sailrite site.  One of these days I will lay them out and do some measuring.  My plan is to do some trimming, sewing, etc., and maybe create a "huge drifter" or something outrageous.

Sailrite--C-P 19  Asymmetrical
Luff   21.54*ft
Foot   10.59*ft
Leech   19.82*ft

I am also thinking poling out the symmetrical with my whisker pole on one side and an extended boat hook on the other with no other sails up for a light air downwind trek.  After I get out in the yard with a tape measure I will know how much to trim off the foot to make this work.
