I got my newly purchased '87 23-II home from Maine this weekend. Hull number is ABV004010687 23  Trip was pretty uneventful with new trailer tires, coupler and safety chains (as opposed to the previous weekend's adventure of needing to pull both the boat and my Maine friend's tow vehicle out of the mud).

Yesterday, I emptied the cabin and storage lockers and was surprised to find items that I didn't see during my initial inspection. Mudlark (new name) is a donated boat and I didn't receive a complete inventory, nor was I initially looking closely beyond hull condition, rigging condition, bulkhead condition, etc. However I found that I also have a Bimini, Autohelm 800, solar charger, extra anchor and various unidentified as yet odds and ends.

With a now empty cabin and storage areas, it appears my initial impression that the boat needs mostly a good cleaning and bottom scraping was correct. Even the bilges need minimal cleaning at most.

I do plan to replace the rudder with a foiled version and also replace lifelines and some of the running rigging.

Needless to say I'm pretty pleased!

I will post some before and after pictures sometime in May.

Congratulations!  Doesn't it feel like Christmas when you find things you weren't expecting?  that's kind of how I felt when I found an anchor in my CP-16 (not sure how I missed it), although it was after getting two new ones, but still the thought was nice.

Welcome Bristol!

Happy to see another new member. I have a 1987 23 mkII sail #402. i just joined the forum and have gleaned a great deal of super useful information from the generous and knowledgeable folks around here. While aboard this weekend (upon the hard) I made great plans for pre launch maintenance. I wish you a memorable first season.

Welcome to the forum and being a Compac Owner.  I have a 1989 Compac 23 III.

There is a lot of information on this forum.  There have been a lot of posts on modifications, improvements, and other projects.

The other good piece of news is that Compac is still in business and you can readily get parts from them.  They are quite reasonable.

Welcome and good luck.

Welcome Bristol!
And congrats on your new 23! I have a slightly older one, 1985 23/2 #321 and she's a wonderful yacht! On the forum here, you find a variety of sailors ranging from the super experienced to the slightly eccentric crackpot but we all have one thing in common: We love to sail and love our Compacs! Ok, that's two things. We look forward to hearing more about you. Where do you sail?
Now let's get down to business. The initiation costs for throwing your lot in with this gnarly bunch of wharf rats is normally $5000.00 cash only with myself being the collector of said funds. But, today is your lucky day because I'm declaring this week, and this week only- half price for all new 23 owners. So, don't hesitate to take advantage of this one time offer and meet my on the corner of Main street and whatchamacallit avenue with the 2500 clams in small bills. Looking forward to meeting you and the money!!!!
