Well, I cured my "3' Itis", bought a nice Com-Pac 19 yesterday, needs a little cleaning and some new rigging, but in good shape, talked my wife into taking a 600 mile round trip in the rain and fog to pick it up.  Now the proud owner of a Com-Pac 16 and 19, and trying to talk myself out of the "Dog House", the 16 was supposed to be my last boat (That's what I told her when I bought it, I'm 69 and a cancer survivor).  I blamed it on some of the comments I got on the 19 site about more room and stability for single handling, but I don't believe she is buying it.  Just thought I would share the pain and remorse with ya'll. Ha!!  Can't wait to get it out on the Neuse if this warm weather keeps up here in Carolina!

I hope all of you have a  "Wonderful Healthy Coming Year" and good sailing!!  tj

Congratulations!  Are you going to tow the 16 around behind the 19, to use as a dingy?
I like the idea of a readily available spare, in case there's a project ongoing with one boat, you can always take the other.

Been there! Proud owner of both a 16 and a 19. Promised to sell the 16 this spring. Just dont use it much after the getting the 19.  You will love the 19.

Congratulations! and I hope to see you out on the Neuse!

Congrats, you'll love the 19.  She is a special boat without a doubt.

I live in Kinston but launch from New Bern, Oriental or South River. I'll give a post on the message board whenever heading out.

Sounds good, it will be at least a month before I can get it in the water.  tj

... I cured my "3' Itis" ...

I'm sorry, but there is no cure for that disease. At best you can suppress it by giving in and satisfying the itch every once in a while. The most effective long-run treatments appears to be limited financial means and a wife born immune to the disease.

Congratulations TJ.  Hope you really enjoy your 19.  I bought mine in July and love it.  Dropped down from a 28' and appreciate the simplicity of the smaller boat.  I had two foot-itus for many years.  Now I have found joy in sailing again.  Enjoy yourself and post some pictures.

Someone told me many years ago Tony,  "The Smaller The Boat The More You Will Sail Her".  I have found that to be true.  I got rid of my 26' Grampion when I found out I was going to have to have a Bone Marrow Transplant two years ago, thought that was it for sailing.  I mended better and faster than expected, bought a Com-Pac 16, sailed her more than other boats I have had but was cramped nights.  So now, like you said, things are going to get better all the time.  Here in Eastern North Carolina we get lucky on the weather quite often! I also enjoy this site, I think I have found a bunch of "Sailors" that enjoy sailing as much as I do, and I appreciate all the comments.

TJ,

I completely agree with you.  I have enjoyed my C-19 more in the past six months than I have my Islander 28 in the past two years.  I will probably sell it off in the next year or two.  I also decided to downsize as I have been having some health issues...bad knees, bad hip, bad back!  Docs are going to fix everything but I just want to be able to sail when I get healthy and not have the constant boat projects that big boats seem to require.  Smaller boat...smaller projects...smaller costs!  Enjoy your new baby.

Congratulations on your recovery! Everyday is a treasure enjoy your new boat! I jumped ahead and went CP16 to the 23 but only because I have a big family and want to bring them all instead of picking out who can come and who can't. The day my 7y/o cried when I took her older sisters out on Sandusky bay I knew I needed a bigger boat!
