Congrats Rick and Susan!  On both milestones.  In a few months we'll be coming up on 49 and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Ahoy, friends!

I am writing to let you know that No Mas, as of mid-June, will find her new home with me, here, in the Midwest! To say that I am over-the-moon tickled pink is a total understatement!!! I can barely contain my excitement!!!

Currently, No Mas is in New Hampshire with her steward and fellow CPYOA member, 'No Mas New England.' I am having No Mas professionally hauled to me where I will ready her for splashing at the inland lake where I currently sail, SV Sunflower (Sunny), my Com-Pac Legacy.

If you've been following along the journey of No Mas with her various owners over the years on this forum, you will recall many hope for her next owner (that will be me!) to bring her full-circle back to the Great Lakes area. My wish is that, one day, to trailer her up to Bayfield, WI and sail the Apostle Islands with her -- thus, completing her full-circle journey to the Great Lakes -- and bringing me full-circle to the Apostle Islands where I used to sail with my family, each summer, growing up. It will be quite the emotional experience, for sure, for me and for No Mas!

I hope that this finds you all safe, healthy, and enjoying fair winds and following seas, friends!

And what shall become of Sunny? Congratulations Chelle! The 23 is a fine yacht and although mine is not a diesel, she's a fine boat! Looking forward to more posts from you!

Wow, a blast from the past! Congrats Chelle. We only had No Mas for a year but was impressed how well she sailed with that diesel down below. It would be grand to have her circumnavigation of North America finally complete! Attached a pic of her in her slip on the bay right before she moved to New England. (oops forgot that since this forum went to the new server I can't post any pics)

Seems to me that No Mas is Inappropriately Named. Should be Si, Mas!

Congratulations on your new boat! You will love her.I owned a 23 back in the 90s and still miss her.Hoping. to launch my new to me Eclipse next week, was needing more tlc then i realised.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your thoughtful and kind replies!!! I am absolutely thrilled to be No Mas!' next steward! I wrote to Gerry at Com-Pac to let him know about purchasing her and he was so funny -- his reply to me (in addition to his congratulatory wishes) -- was "It is a great boat but A LOT bigger than Sunny." (Sunny is my Com-Pac Legacy!)  :D :D :D I will have a lot to learn with No Mas!, but that is all part of the fun -- and the sailor's journey! Stay tuned for future stories of my travels with No Mas! on my sailing blog at https://sailawaywithchelle.wordpress.com!

Fair winds!!!

I hear you Chelle.  After so many years of sailing our Compac 19, I feel uneasy every time I pull the 30' boat out of its slip. Fortunately, the sailing waters here are so large I can stay on the same tack most of the day.  So far I've only  been able to pull her into the slip 3 times without incident.  The wind always seems to increase while entering.

You'll get the hang of the 23 and soon it will.become routine.

Don't forget the obligatory pics for your 1st launch!

I'll definitely take pics and share her first launch with me! I am SO excited -- I can barely contain myself! Her arrival/delivery date cannot come soon enough! And I can't wait to get out on the water with her!!!

When we switched from a CP-16 to a CP-23, I thought the 23 was much easier to sail, no learning curve involved.

Hey, Al! Thanks for your feedback -- I am happy to see your impressions re: making the switch from the 16 up to the 23! I am super pumped up to get out on the water with my new-to-me Com-Pac 23! ~ Chelle

Chelle! You will love your 23! I've never sailed a 16 but with triple the displacement, the 23 is very confidence building. And very forgiving too! One thing I've learned in my 14 years is that she doesn't like to be over canvassed. It sounds conservative but mine likes to have her 1st reef tied in at about 15 knots. That being said, I've been out in 30 knots of wind with both reefs taken in on the mainsail, and only about a third of the headsail showing. She was stable, safe, wet and very fun!!

Agree with Bob (did I actually type that?) on the early reef.  During the Winter and Spring I usually just leave it in and only shake it out if conditions warrant.  Your Legacy would have sailed a little flatter than the older hull form of the 23, don't let those quick rolls in gusts alarm you it fetches up tight well before you can put the lee rail awash.  High ultimate stability they call it, but low initial stability.
