Subletting slip space for a month?

Hey everybody, I'm planning to pull my CP23 down to the Pensacola area in December for a 4-5 day sail.   It's about a 7 hour drive from where I live.   I'd like to leave it down there for maybe a month or six weeks after I return home so I can just fly down one or two weekends and use it before I trailer it back for good.

Is there such a thing as subletting a slip from an owner who has hauled out their boat for the season or some other inexpensive way of keeping it down there?  Anyone heard of that or have other suggestions?

yes.

i was contemplating purchasing a slip in north carolina, the marina sublets them out for long or short stays, and keeps 15%.

i would start by contacting marinas in the area.

If you would consider Fairhope, AL on the Mobile Bay there are slips available on the Fairhope pier.  The restaurant connected to the docks has changed ownership and its name.  It is now called Shucks.  I use to keep my boat there and Fairhope is a beautiful little town.

There are some marinas around me (MN, WI) that allow that, but I would just start by calling a few and seeing what they would charge you for a month or six weeks of transient slip use.

I am sure you can find a marina with a slip available on a monthly basis. It should be less than transient fees. I wish I could help you but I don't live near Pensacola. I will say that the winter is our sailing season in Florida so you are unlikely to find a boat slip where the boat is hauled for the season.
If possible try to find a newspaper. Sometimes local homeowners will advertise to rent their dock. That would be the most economical.
Good luck
