For a simple over the boom sun shade

What size tarp did you all find good to use as an over the boom sun shade. I will use a spreader pole at each end and I want it long enough to cover the companion way. I am gong to try a white or maybe tan poly tarp. I think the poly tarps are light, very small when folded and will also work well to shed rain.

I think Dennis had one on Odd Duck, now Nomad, Tom.  It's stored aboard.  If the rain stops this year, I'll get the cover off and take a look.
