Trailer bunk positions for CP19

I've located a used trailer setup for a CP23.  Does anyone know the support bunk positions for a CP19?  The hulls are different between the two boats; the CP19 has about a 5" shallower keel and the hull is somewhat flat in the middle.  Any help knowing the height of the support bunks and their distance apart will be greatly appreciated.  John

It's a dark and stormy night here, so I can't help you tonight.   I purchased a trailer and had to cut a good foot off the bunk supports.  I will measure mine tomorrow and post it for you.  I left the support legs long, just in case.

Thanks Elk River.  I know the bunks are too high and maybe too far apart.  I was disappointed Gerry at Hutchins couldn't help me....responded each boat is fitted individually so he didn't have the measurements...phooey!
I sincerely appreciate your help; this trailer will enhance the sale of my boat.

Hello Elk River,
When you measure the support bunks, I need the distance they are apart from side to side, their length and height.  I learned from an article that using polyethylene boards for the keel support is better than bunk padding(allows the keel the slide easier).  The same with the keel guides(using shallow upright support tubing with the poly board attached).  The keel guides will be located along the keel support bunk on either side.  The keel should sit on the keel support with the side support bunks just high enough to keep the boat level.  Optimally the boat would be lowered to the trailer and the side support bunks adjusted into place, but I don't have that luxury.  If I can get the measurements from you(or anyone for that matter), I can retrieve the boat and make any final adjustments at that time.
Again, I can't thank you enough for your help. John

I had to visit my cp 19 today so I got the measurements. Front post 16 1/2", middle 13" and rear 14 1/2" and the length of the bunk is 7'. I didn't think to measure how wide apart they were but on my trailer they are all the way out to the side frames.
On a side note while looking at the bunks I noticed the keel guide on one side had flipped over glad I found it before I launched the boat.

Hello Chuck,
Just so I understand, your measurements(front post 16 1/2", middle post 13" and rear post 14 1/2" high), I take it this is from the top of the bunk to the trailer frame?  I'm going to attempt to send you a photo of my trailer so you can see how it's currently setup.  I think your trailer may have a "V" in the cross frames which means the keel support is lower than the frame of the trailer.  Can you measure how deep this "V" section of the cross frame is from the trailer frame?  My keel support is level with the trailer frame.
Glad you found you had a trailer issue before you launched too! Early thanks for your help. John

Chuck, if you will send me your email address, I'll be able to send you a photo of my trailer.  Thanks John

Mayrel, I am going to my boat this morning and will check on the frame. My e-mail. Chuck.mchugh@att.net

Mayrel...let me know if you still need any measurements.  My CP-19 and trailer are parked in the driveway.

John,

The distance between my keel guides is 19" from outside to outside at the aft end.  The height of the center bunk support is 13 1/2" from the trailer frame and 16" from a point level with the bottom of the keel.

I will get the measurement from the base of trailer's winch post to the front of the keel this evening and post it here.

John,

I can't easily get the measurement from the bottom of my keel to the bottom of my trailer's winch post as my spare tire is mounted just aft of the post.  However, a straight line from the top of my keell, along the hull to the winch post is 68".  With the keel angling aft and the winch post angling forward the bottom to bottom measurement looks like it would be about 73"-75".  Hope this helps.

I wanted to thank everyone for all your help.  Setting up this trailer has been challenging, but I'm happy to report it's moving right along.  I wanted to initially do what I could to adjust the bunks and bow stop, then have our marina forklift driver(experienced in lifting larger sailboats)lower my boat onto the trailer.  Obviously I can make any final adjustments at that time.  Since this trailer was setup for a CP23 the support bunks are much longer and they extend past the end of the trailer about 2'.  This isn't a bad thing as they'll help line the boat up when retrieving/launching.  The only remaining issue is the position of the bow stop(height)on the winch tower.  Using the LWL of the CP19 I was able to determine the approximate center of the boat(8'2").  Given the position of my bow stop(currently set at 30" high), the center of the boat will be about 20" forward of the forward axle.  I'm hoping this will be about right, considering tongue weight.  But the only adjustment I can achieve to move the boat further aft on the trailer will have to be accomplished with an extension to the bow stop from the winch tower.  I'm not too concerned with this as I can have a bow stop bracket fabricated to the size I need.  This boat will be riding on a very stout trailer for sure!
Again, I can't thank you all enough for your patience and help.  I hope to have this project completed within the week, weather permitting of course.  Blessings and Fair Winds to you all....John

I finally got my bunks and keel guides installed.  I adjusted the keel guides 15" apart(padded 2x4's); is this about right?  Thanks, John

First of all, I apologize for all the back and forth with these trailer measurements.  It seems these measurements are different coming from each respondent.  Does anyone know the maximum width of the keel measured about 10 to 12 inches up from the base?  I know depending on how your trailer is setup the position of the support bunks can vary quite a bit.  I would think the keel guides should be more consistent.  They were about a foot high on my old trailer, but I don't know how far apart.  If I can get the height and distance of the keel guides from several different owners, I'm sure there will be a trend. I'm sorry to have to ask this, but even the Magic Tilt trailer folks don't know, or I haven't found the right representative...very frustrating as you can imagine.  Early thanks for you help...John
