Draining Centreboard Cavity

For anyone who sails in salt water (as I will be)... wondering if the water drains from the centreboard cavity while on the trailer. I'm thinking of drilling a few holes in the keel bunk to ensure sea water drains from inside the keel after loading on the trailer. I'm also wondering if it is possible to run fresh water from the cockpit down through where the line drops the centreboard to flush the cavity out? Cheers

Hey Jeff,

I've seen a couple of HCs on trailers.. I don't think there will be a problem with the keel bunk sealing the centerboard cavity and preventing drainage. The material covering the keel bunk is grooved, and the keel does not appear to make an even contact along its complete longitudinal axis...there are small gaps. But flushing the board cavity may be a a good reason for boring a hole in the bunk. Luckily, the entire centerboard assembly is stainless steel. I'll have a better understanding next week...after I take delivery of mine in Clearwater. My time is at hand..
