Charlie,
Thanks for the dimensions.
The Hutchins data says the standard jib for the 16II and later is 55sf. but does not give dimensions. Looks like your original at 46.5 sf. was a 120% jib. Would take some work to get to 55sf. and stay at 120%.

Don't forget that a 120% jib will be a different sq ft size sail for a Mk1 vs. a Mk2 CP-16. You are talking about different "j" measurements for the two boats (4.5' vs 5.5') so that will have a direct affect on the LP measurement that is commonly quoted as "x%" size jib.

I had a very nice 6.4 oz jib made for my CP-16 Mk1 this past spring by Doyle. The quote came in at a very competitive price, especially for a sail manufactured in the USA. I took my own rig measurements and the sail came back very well cut and very well made. Sailed about 30 days on it this past season and is still looks new.

I plan to order a new main from Doyle in the next few months.

Sails are one of the most important parts of you boat and have a very direct effect on sailing performance, comfort in high winds, and overall enjoyment. Don't go cheap, spend the extra $50-$100 on quality sails. They make a big difference.
