This much fun should be illegal! And, yes I can attest to the boozeworthyness of Tie me to the Mast that Ginger made. You've heard of laughing gas? This is laughing juice! Jason: Maybe a converted milk tank truck might be enough.

Chris: This sounds like you are challenging me to a race. Hmm..the sloop rig vs the HC rig. There are some very strict rules that I observed at the CLR race- the first and foremost is that cheating is not only encouraged but rewarded handsomely.
I'm wondering about an alternate route out there from NJ that will be more kindly to my nearly quarter million mile Tundra.

bob, hows this for an idea? call toyota and inform them of the priceless opportunity to film your trip from new jersey to illinois pulling about 5000 lbs. talk about a great commercial. while you are at it ask them to be a sponser for the clr. they can at least supply us with some saki from the motherland

Hmm. If that would work, I'd try it. Anything to cut down on the gas bill.

bob,

gas prices are down out here.  we just filled both vehicles at $2.70 a gallon.

who knows what price gas will reach next summer?

if i were you, i'd leave now!

this will insure a timely arrival, no matter how lost you get yourself.

On my way. Save some turkey! I am so looking forward to this. I hope the Blackburn doesn't interfere with CLR. I wonder if I could give Jimmy B a call to see if he could make a cameo appearance? Hope I didn't loose his number.

absolutely steve!

this could be the largest gathering of compacs in the midwest, maybe the world!

Pardon my ignorance... what is CLR?

I live just south of Chicago and it sounds like a trip to Lake Carlysle  next July might be of interest.

Tom

I've posted this before, but it's worth repeating...

What is CLR?

Carlyle Lake Rendezvous.

It's only the greatest get together of Compac sailing craft in history! (mainly due to the attendees)

Compac sailors from all corners of the globe, (and New Jersey), assemble in West Access Marina at the south end of Carlyle Lake in southern Illinois.

For 5 days we rule the lake, sailing rings around all the other lesser "boats", entertaining fishermen with the "Race", and swimming in secluded coves while indulging in libations and participating in high velocity water fights.

In the evening, we gather at the docks, praising each others sailing abilities and telling stories of epic journeys.

One evening the fleet will dine at Brez's Restaurant, while other patrons sit in envy as we are clearly the life of the party.

There is also a theme based dinner at the marina where trophies are presented and costumes judged.

It's THE event of the year for all Compac sailors!

Now, if it sounds too good to be true, you'll just have to attend and judge for yourself.

Hi Tom:
"Might be of interest" would be putting it mildly- very, very mildly. And if you live that close, there is no reason not to attend- unless you value your reputation! Last year was my first, but definitely not my last. Everyone is so accommodating- and all I brought was a rowing vessel! Next year- maybe the 23!

Well... looks like I need to mark it on my calendar!!
