Quadrant hole diameter is 1-1/4". Lids from ice box are gone (have no idea what happened to the). Perhaps they were nasty and I tossed them. I will get price on shipping.

I sent you an e-mail..Thanks!

Thanks Bruce!

Here is a pic of the cracked quadrant.

Bruce - Yours seemed to be a bit beefier. I even had to run out and buy bigger bolts for it.  Thanks again.

Hi Ralph:
The one on my boat looked exactly like the one I sent you. At least I now know I have the beefier version as well. I was thinking about the shift lever issue. Did someone reposition the lever so that it was horizontal and run the cable in vertical. Usually a shift lever like that is made to only go on one way. My two units are set up with the handle vertical....strange.

Hey Bruce:
When I re installed the pedestal I hooked up the shift cable so that it worked backwards.  Up on the pedestal lever was reverse, down was forward.  Easy to do, I think that it had to do with the pivot point.  It didn't take long to run it right.

Would be glad to send a picture if you would like.

Hey Charlie and Ralph:
Just dawned on me that the Edson and the other brand pedestal that ComPac has used (I think it's a Merimar) work differently. The Edson setup I think you push the shift lever up and down where as the other brand (which is on my usable boat works by pushing it forward or backward. Can't figure out if that makes any sense to Ralph. I have the Edson that came off the parts boat stored away (just in case).

Here's a pic of the emergency tiller I made up.  The rudder shaft already had a hole for the bolt.  The aluminum tiller slips over the 1.25" rudder shaft and bolts on.

Also, heres a pic of my tranny setup.  When I push my shift lever foward on the pedistal, it pushes the transmission lever foward (pictured) putting the boat into reverse.

I'm thinking of either mounting the transmission lever pointing down.  Maybe someone changed the prop setup?

Hi:
Looked at the shift lever on the parts boat which had an Edson pedestal, the levers points up and in neutral it is at 12 o'clock. You said you push the shift lever forward and back if that's the case that is not an Edson set up. The Edson setups I believe is up and down to shift. My good boat has a forward and backward shift setup. I'm going to the boat shortly (leaving for the Vineyard tomorrow) and I'll look at my shift lever setup which is I believe a has a Merimar pedestal. Does anyone know if that's the correct brand name for those pedestals? Also I think the shift bracket I sent you looks different than the one in the picture.....I'm confused now. Did I send you the correct bracket?

Hi:
Something just dawned on my....does the boat have the correct prop? It should be a 10 x 9 or 10 x 8 RH prop. One boat has a 9 pitch and the other has a 8 pitch but they are both RH props. Have no idea why the pitch value is different. Let me know what you find for a prop spec. (should be stamped on the prop).

The bracket you sent me was exactly the same.  Not sure on the prop...that'll have to wait (although, by the label on the transmission and the way my boat shifts, I'm 99.9% it's a RH prop).  My shift lever on the pedestal points up (12 o'clock) when in neutral also.

Weird, because I was thinking the boat originally came with a LH prop...that would make things right.  Now you threw me for another loop.

So if the tranny linkage looks the same, and the prop is the same, it must have something to do with the pedestal.
