Hi relamb:
I forgot to mention that I take a hacksaw blade and neatly trim off the ears on the sides of the batteries. I know that it eliminates the handle on the batteries so I went to an autoparts store and purchased a battery lifting strap and I that keep that on board. They lift the battery by the two top posts and are reasonably priced (under $10's). It gives me more room for the batteries to fit better side by side in that limited space. I still have in a battery box the battery for the windless under the starboard side of the vberth.Plan on upgrading that one to a group 31 next spring.
Best of luck.
Bruce
P.S. I took a battery in one time for warranty and they didn't even notice the handle being cut off. I always go back and clean up the hacksaw cut with a file to smooth it out.
