...hit a weather sweet spot with the temp at 67, full sun and wind south at 7-10 somewhat variable.  Wing and wing due north up lake doing between 2.5 and 5 knots.  Piling on you folks who are still digging out, but the daffodils are in full bloom here, so Spring is coming...

it was 62 here and would have been good if only the docks had been put in.

Also went sailing yesterday at Smith Mountain Lake.  67^ and beautiful.  The Admiral made a couple Reuben Sandwiches, and a couple of brewskis.  Left at 2:00 pm and pulled into the slip at 5:30.  Great afternoon

wow..you guys are fortunate!   yesterday we went for a 6 mile hike on trails that had thankfully been packed down by snow mobiles..  still challenging - we were exhausted at the end of the day..  just tried a hike locally this morning without snow shoes - no good..  it is pretty hard to walk when the snow comes up past one's knees!    and they are telling us to prepare for more cold and snow this week :)    But is sure is nice of you folks to share such beautiful pics!   it gives us some hope for the future ..  jt

It's 9 deg F. here with 5-1/2 foot of snow and bright sun and a stiff 17 mph West wind.

I'm staying in and watching the Daytona 500. Maybe someone will slide across the finish line on the roof.

Opps I see we had the mother of all rain delays again. Finished the race late in the night. Who cares then?

skip.

Must be it was so short 'cause you ran out of food and drink!

I have to get my feet (and legs) wet to get the 16' "Slow Dancing" back on the trailer.  Darn it, the water is still to COLD in spite of the solar heat.  After next week's predicted 18 at night and possible snow I will unwrap the old gal and get her ready to go . . .

I found a picture of Vicky in the SML magazine, but I still do not know where your screw-pile-light-house marina is located.  I will find you this season: I have enjoyed your many contributions. I would like to thank you in person.

OUCH!  I haven't sailed in over a year and I am really wanted to get out.  My Catalina 30 is still for sale and it is taking longer than I would like to sell.  ugh!

I am hoping to have her sold early spring and be sailing on a Compac 23 by late spring.

I went out Sunday; mid-60s, light winds.

I  enjoyed just getting the boat out for the first time since I got her moved from Oriental to New Bern.

My two friends who joined me and I did have a great time drifting along; then the winds got a bit better at 330, so we sailed another hour, and got back to the dock around 5.

I have to practice the docking and leaving maneuver a bunch more by going down as often as I can to sail. The bow of the 23 seems so far away from me at the tiller when I am trying to do the slow grab of the stern lines, and still be able to take the bow line.

Well, all in all, just another fun day!

Crazy weather here.......70deg this past weekend.  Friend invited me and my wife to their lake house on Smith Lake, Alabama for the weekend and to bring the C16.  Went out 3 separate times with a total of 7 different crew members.  Most had never been sailing before.  Stayed out 2 hours or so at a time.  7mph winds.  Everyone took a turn at the tiller.  Great weekend.  Didn't want it to end.  Great first sail of the year.  Of course I installed the windex backwards the first time the mast went up and I was a little concerned about the motor starting since I winterized and gapped the new plug myself but she started on the 3rd pull.  Going back to !@#$%& below freezing tonight with chance of flurries.
