Hello,

Well I finally got myself out and cut the plywood for the cabin roof and epoxied it up in place. Not really knowing what the heck I'm doing, it seems to have worked well. I'm going to wait a day or so before removing the supports. Also I added the picture of the new Com-Pac 15 just in case no one has seen the pictures as of yet.

Kevin , that forest of support sticks looks awful familiar. Hope you bonded well. You're going to love the overhead fiberglassing. Wear an old hat that you hate and buy a LARGE box of latex gloves. I just realized that your 16 is older than mine(#277). Good luck and fair winds, dude.  Tim

Thanks Tim,
I did get the fiberglass up, what a mess!
I also added new concrete to the floor and now it's nice and smooth.
Today I put a coat of epoxy over it.

So far so good!

Today I removed the tarp and started a little cleaning. Had built up a lot of dust from all the grinding and sanding. I also put on the new companionway guides. Reinstalled the compression post and mast step. The interior needs one last sanding and it is ready for paint.

We're gettin' closer to some sailin'!

Oh...one more thing.
Anyone have any suggestions what interior paint to use?

Thanks.

Kevin, I used an off the shelf exterior gloss white latex house paint on the interior of the cabin just because it's easy to clean and it's CHEAP. I think it will hold up pretty well, and if it doesn't I've still got half a can left. Your work looks good. Fair winds, Tim.

Thanks Tim, I was hoping to do something simple yet effective.

Just wanted to post an updated pic. Put on the grab rails yesterday and also decided to just put the old pulpit rail back on instead of buying a new one, perhaps next season.

VERY NICE!!! Great work . . .

TroyVB

Looks Great! I especially like the looks of the sole.  Did you use cedar?

K3v1n

Thanks Gil and Troy,
What a job that cabin roof was, sheesh!

As for the sole...

I used some left over Ipe decking I had around. Ripped into strips, sanded and routered the edges. I then drilled holes through the ends and strung it together with line. It looks great and can be removed easily if needed.

I'm working on making some Ipe trim rings to dress up the interior of the port holes. Pictures coming soon.

With all the rain we are having I noticed today some small puddles along the outside of the berths. I'm thinking the rub rail area has a hole somewhere. I guess I'll have to pull that off and investigate. I'm sure if I bury the rail sailing, water will come in. Not good.

Finished a few items in the cabin today. One of the major ones was the installation of my home made porthole trims. With the help of my daughter we put them on with no trouble. After a good clean up we sat around and took a few pictures.

Tomorrow I plan to finish the rub rail repair and then I'll see what I can get into next. Can't wait to get out sailing and have something other than repairs to write about.
