Just wanted to say hello as a new CP23 owner. Looking forward to fixing her up and hopefully making it to the rendezvous. Had 2 CP16s back in the day so I'm looking forward to sailing this bigger model. Looking for a trailer and a foil rudder. Any ideas?

Well as a past sailor of two CP-16's you'll do just fine.
We kind of need the particulars. Does the boat come out for 'your' winter and sit on the hard in a cradle or balanced on sticks and chains?
Who, what, where, when, why, and how about this boat and you.

What needs 'fixxin' up on a 33 year old boat? Don't have any leads on a trailer but IdaSailor sells the foiled rudders.

Hi Doug:
From one 23 guy to anouther, welcome to the world of the Compac-o-nauts! You will love your boat and there are plenty guys here to share what we know. So many members have helped my out in the past.
Again, welcome. Where do you sail?

Thanks for the welcome. Here's a bit more about me skip1930... I sail local waters around Stuart, Fl. (my home town) in my small O'Day and will with the CP23. This bigger boat will also be used to travel on a trailer to more distant parts and still house me fairly comfortably. I've got a 44' cutter that I take on extended trips like the Bahamas but I rarely get to use her as work keeps getting in the way. I grew up in Tampa and have very fond memories of sailing Tampa Bay as a kid. From there, we moved to the SE coast of FL. so we got to sail the keys a lot. Good Times!
I plan on gutting the interior as some of the wood is pretty much shot but other than that, she's ready. I'll be updating the electrical and adding some minor improvements like interior lighting and painting the interior. I'll also add some basic nav gear, not that i'll ever need or use it but it's fun to have. We've got great interior sailing on our wide bays and rivers so it's good to have a small boat to play with that can be trailered around without much trouble. Looking forward to that day!

Hi, Doug,

I got a CP 23 late fall, had some schedule issues moving her, but now have her in New Bern, NC. Mine is a 1980 model. Took her out for a sail the first time this Sunday. Lot of fun. I'll need to do some electrical updating; no way to charge the battery right now, and to add a solar charger, I'll need to add a way to attach it to the electrical system, which is out of hand.

Thinking I'll put in a deckpipe when it warms up some, make a few repairs, etc, but sailing's the thing!

Welcome to the forum.

Doug,

Welcome to CP 23, I am a proud new owner of a 81 too. Needs some TLC and its a pleasure to spend time tinkering with it. If you are still looking for a trailer...reach out to me directly and I may have a solution for you.

All the best..
