As mentioned earlier, we will be there on Blue Heaven.  5 clams to launch?  We are located at the head of the Chesapeake.  Do you think crabs will be acceptable currency??

Sorry, Elk:
Only Barnegat Bay clams are an acceptable currency.
I will try to arrive at Captains Inn and secure the slips by noonish to twoish on Friday. I'll be reachable by shoe phone if anyone needs help at Townsends Marina. I  believe everyone has my number but if you don't, PM me and I'll send it to ya. I also keep my VHF on at channel 16.
This is shaping up...let's hope the weather holds! The bay at this time is extremely clear so that should be impressive over at Tice's, which is always pretty clear.

Can't trust a 10 day forecast but, as wishful thinking goes, it sure looks good right now. Sunny and mid 70s. Headed back to the USA tomorrow.

Bob23

The BBB 2014 is almost upon us! I'd like a head count for Friday nights dinner at the Captains Inn. Time may be about 6:30-7:00 if that works and I'll call for reservations.
Temperatures  here in the South of NJ have been chilly in the mornings. As I write this at 6:10 am local time, it's 52 degrees so expect high or even mid 40's in the mornings. Maybe a bit warmer because we're on the water. Bring your woolies, hats or whatever you wear in cold weather. I'll have a dingy with me but otherwise the walks to the beach involve wading through the bay water so you'll get wet.
   Stay in touch!

Gee, Bob, I seem to be like a reed in the wind. I'm still not sure where I'll launch Pegasus, however, I will be at the Captain's Inn come Friday PM.

Pegasus' wheels are finally on the ground and I've been working furiously to get her shipshape. Of course we are going to get hit with a deluge tomorrow (Thursday) but the weekend seems to be shaping up quite nicely.

As far as wading in to the beach, no problem, I volunteer for rowing duty! Ha, ha! What's that about 3 men in a tub?

I told Bob I'd help get the dinner count together because he needs to make reservations for Friday night at the Captain's Inn.  I'm near a computer and he isn't.

So far I have:

Bob, Sean, Emily (Bob23)
Brad and Lily (Elk River)
Marty (MKBLK)

So are we 6 for dinner on Friday? Anyone else?

Mike and Cathay will join us sometime Saturday.

Thanks for the responses.

Thanks, Sean for helping out...back at the office now.
I'll make the reservations for 6:30 at the Captains Inn. Does that work for everyone?
And on Saturday Marty will conduct a safety drill on the proper use of a rowing dingy. I can't wait to tell that story, Marty although, in truth,  we all played a part in that escapade, ayuh?
Bob23
(ps: Anyone arriving at Tice's on Saturday, we'll try to get there first and you can identify my boat by the white riding sail and large American flag flying from the backstay.)

MKBLK

Sean,

We may have two more for dinner - my friends Dario and Alex who will be sailing to Tice's in their brand X sloops. I can't be more precise, unfortunately.

Marty:
This is ok but no darn politcal discussions or I'll keek haul 'em myself! Haha...!
Reservations for 8 have been made at the Captains Inn for 6:30. Is 7:00 better or should I keep it at 6:30? Any input? This should be fun but it looks like all motoring from home port in Surf City tomorrow. North winds are forecast but the weekend looks great with lots of sun!
Bob23

MKBLK

Agreed! Politics is OFF the table. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll shoot for 6:30 arriving in the VTV (Volvo Tow Vehicle). I've decided to launch from Cedar Creek where there is more tacking room and I don't have to depend on iron wind, hopefully. Hope tomorrow dawns bright and sunny. Still have much to do before dragging Pegasus to the bay.

Thanks for updating Marty.

I'm good with 6:30 so long as traffic doesn't snag us. Supposed to take 5 hours so I'm allowing 6.

Looking forward to meeting you all. I'm loving the forecast so far.

Bob23

Sean:
The reason I mentioned no political discussions is that Alex showed up, was it last year, Marty, and kinda dominated the conversation with his political rant. Otherwise, he was probably a pretty nice guy.
Maybe I'll call tomorrow and change to 7. Let me know.
Marty: You think you have a lot to do. I was just reviewing what needs to be done and I've got a busy morning ahead. But this should be fun...I'm so glad the forecast is great. Should be some nice waves for bodysurfing. And the sunrises and sunsets are the best. I'm gonna try to anchor in close so there is minimal wading through the bay.

Hi Bob,

We should be good with 6:30 if that works for everyone else. Looking forward to it.

Cheers,

I don't want to sound cheap here (has nothing to do with not taking crabs as alternate currency), but is there a place to be on the hook after launching at Tice's or must we be in slips to be close by for Saturday's breakfast?  I am assuming that there is a group breakfast Saturday morning as I believe it was mentioned at one point.

You would be launching at Townsends Marina where the ramp fee is 5 clams, each way. There is parking available on site at Townsends. The slip is at the Captains Inn, which is within walking distance to Townsends and, although I've tried to negotiate down, they remain firm at 50 clams a night. I'm not thrilled about that kind of money but I don't think there is anyplace to drop anchor on the Forked River although if you see something, I guess you could. Trust me, I'm as cheap as they get and this will be the highest per night slip fee I've ever paid in my life.
There are breakfast places within a short drive so if we could pile in someones car and eat breakfast together, that would be great. Due to this event being put together at the last minute, we'll have to work some details out as they go. It should be evident by this time that we are kinda winging it but it will be a great time. Anytime on the water with friends and Compac yachts can't help but be fun! I will try to arrive at Captains by mid afternoon, hopefully ahead of everyone so as you arrive, give me a call.
