However short the voyage, we never lose all the shine of it.

Billy, all I can say is what a great adventure. ;D

Consider a BUFF as essential clothing.  Seamless technical headgear that can be used in about 30 configurations.  Can keep the wind, sun, cold, spray, off your face.  When you are off watch, you can use it quadrupled over your eyes and ears to block light and sound to help you  sleep.  My wife and I took them for the 500 mile Camino walk across Northern Spain and used the almost every day.  About $20 Amazon.  get the UV version.

Thanks for all the great advice.

Here is a link so all that are interested can track my progress.

Currently it is showing the last trip the Captain did, from Ft. Lauderdale to Punta Gorda.

Again, we will be leaving New Years Eve so start checking back in around the 1st week in January.

Also, here is a cool link I found showing all the current wind patterns all over the globe.

Thanks for all the encouragement and insight.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Well,
I was supposed to leave today at 12:00. I had my bag all packed. And at 7:30 this morning I got a call telling me the trip was canceled due to weather. :(

45kts w/ gust up to 60 in the Bay of Biscay and waves up to 9 meters.

Well......at least I get to live to sail another day.

Thanks for all the advice, input, and encouragement.

Hope to see many of you this May here is Tampa Bay!
