I have rigged a mast crutch to support the mast during raising and got the gin pole rigged up also. I have used the trailer winch to raise the mast almost effortlessly, but I am concerned athe mast sway during the raising. Seems to put a lot of strain on the mast step. Has anyone come up with an idea to stop the sway? If that problem were solved I would ne very happy with the set up.

I have no idea. I just slap her up a fast as possible. On the shoulder and walk to toward the bow. Step up onto the seat and then companion way hatch in the process. Don't foul any stays.

The faster the 'stick' stands up the sooner the standing rigging takes hold and steadies the thing up. Then my helper just ties off the forward stay to the trailer with a safety line till we put the HARKEN pin in the hole, under the furler drum. No easy way to do it.

The mast step/tabernackle is ss sheet metal and re-forms around the mast as the mast is up and the wing nut tightens down if it's a little out of shape. skip.
