Hello all, Ahoy!

Today was my first day out on the water after my little ordeal at the hospital in January.
I have been lucky that things were not worse, and have had great support from friends, family and even my employer.  I made two trips back to the hospital.  The last resulting in a brand new implantable defibrillator.  Ouch.  It is hopefully just a safety net, but I guess I was making the docs pretty nervous.

I started rehab in February and have now been given the green light to sail and generally go on with life.

So today was the first day out and what a day it was. 15 to 2o mph wind sustained with gusts to 30 or higher.

I did not think about a doctor, hospital or anything but sailing for two hours straight.  The best therapy anyone could prescribe!
My wife was at the helm most of the time, and did an amazing job.  The Mary belle just wanted to go, go, go.
We had reefed the main by rolling 3 times around the boom.  Glad we did as those big gusts hit hard.  Amazing, you can feel it like a hammer on the tiller and against the sail and keel all at the same time.  Wow.

Any way glad to be back!

Doc says to take some time off this summer so I am thinking of Pugeot sound for a few days and maybe take the ferry to Prince Rupert.
One nice thing about Albuquerque is that you are right in the middle of a lot of great places to go.

So glad you are making a great recovery. And sailing is the best therapy of all! There truthfully is something healing about moving along in a sailboat at 5 knots. We are forced to slow down. Keep us posted about your adventures!
