Just picked up a 91 green hull great condition 16. The wife and I took it out yesterday and had a blast! Hope to spend the summer sailing lakes in NorCal. I enjoy reading about all the mods people do to update the line of boats!

Welcome ShellDave and congratulations on your new C16. A green hull? I don't think I've seen one like that. Should look pretty nice! So where in NoCal do you plan to be sailing? I'm in S. Oregon (State of Jefferson) so I'm always curious about new potential cruising grounds.

By the way, being new here you will soon likely be contacted by the local (local?) dues collector. Don't worry too much, his bark is usually worse then his bite. Also, here's a tip that can save you lots of money, he can generally be distracted by plying him with a few tots of rum.

Good luck and fair breezes. Looking forward to some sailing stories from our side of the continent.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I have sailed my CP-16 at Whiskey Town Lake (great wind).
Just went to Lake Oroville Forebay yesterday and loved spending the day on the lake with my wife.

Seems using a IPad I'm not able to add photos?

My CP has a dark Green hull (not painted, gel coat). Did the factory offer in 91?

Would like a bigger jib for lite wind days, what would be a good size?

Thanks, ShellDave

Ahem...did I hear someone refer to me as a local dues collector who can be easily bribed with rum? Well, at least part of that accusation is almost true!
Welcome, Dave. If you post a photo of your green CP 16, I will waive all fees associated with joining with this bunch of wharf rats. Why am I being so generous? Well, let's just say I have a fondness for dark green sailboats.
Looking forward to hearing about your adventures. Even though I'm a 23 owner, for some strange reason I keep looking for a bargain 16. I'd like to use it for more trailer sailing to explore some different waters.

ShellDave,

Congratulations on the NEW to you boat! Hope you have many enjoyable hours sailing it.

As for jibs, for light air I added a 4' Bowsprit to my Sun Cat and fly a 75 sq ft homemade Drifter on a homemade PVC Pipe Furler. Works great!

ShellDave, welcome.

For the light wind days, I use a 155% genoa; makes a big difference. We have some discussion and photos in the CP16 area of the forum. http://cpyoa.geekworkshosting.com/forum/index.php?topic=6061.0

Posting from an iPad is possible, but either requires additional tabs open to a photo site (Photobucket, Flickr, etc.) or switching from an app.  I use an iPad almost exclusively, and use the Photobucket app to upload to the CPYOA section and to get the image links to insert.

So here's a photo of my new ride!

Can't believe I was able to download a photo! Thanks Skip...

My pleasure, I see a non-folding O/B mount on the transom, and it appears to be far enough away from the transom to tilt the prop out of the water.
Is it? And your sitting on the same closed-cell foam cushions that I have, and there is a topping lift...all the comforts of a larger boat.
Good job.

Luv's the color...skip.

I like Mac's advise at another post on taping the holes to be filled, front side and back side and then filling with the filler through a small hole in the top tap. Good idea. Less mess and near zero overflow.

" Also just for info I used Mr Clean sponges on the boat and they worked great! " I'll give that a try.

capt_nemo

In a word, no, two words - "VERY NICE!".

Thanks for the nice comments about the boat! @ skip yes I use a 3.3 up O/B and its able to tilt up out of the water while under sail. Also I love having those pads to sit on! I rigged the topping lift when I got the boat. Also at this time I'm on the hunt for a 155% Genoa and improved rudder. Also just for info I used Mr Clean sponges on the boat and they worked great!

Spartan

I like the pads too!  Where did you get them? Brand name?
Thanks

What a pretty CP16! I am liking that color.

Hatch up front? When was that done? I really love those little CP16. I am kicking myself for ever selling mine. I would have the whole trailer fleet if I would have kept it. CP16, 19, and soon the 23.

I used to have a 1988 MacGregor dagger-board 26. It taught me what the word "tender" meant when it came to sailboats.

The CP16 is a good, stiff, capable little boat even comparing it to the Macgregor 26.

You have a fine ride there. Welcome to the fleet!
