We're right there with you Kick.  We are reading about sailing, sewing boat canvas, finishing the foil on the rudder and dreaming about the water.  Outside is a good foot of snow still on the ground that just won't go away.  I'm tired of snowblowing and shoveling, but at least all this snow should raise the water levels a bit this year.  Let's hope for an early spring.

My wife had me bring the boat home and get started on the work we had planned.
She has had a few times where I have caught her just sitting in the boat calmly as it takes my trucks place in the garage.

Sometimes I wonder....... does she love the boat more than me...............

She probably wonders that same thing about me and my tools......

Spring cant come too quickly, I need a little time to finish the work on the boat  ;D

Snow? Cold? I don't know what your'e talking about. Here in NJ, it's been in the 80's with water temp around 74. So with this great weather, I uncovered "Koinoina", dropped her in and went for a nice late winter sail. Cruising along on a beam reach in moderate winds of about 15 knots, I had the Bay all to myself. Tides were high so no chance of touching bottom. After about 2 hours of this "torture", I noticed a small sailboat in distress so of course, I altered course and went over to see if I could help. Upon arrival, I noticed an O'day Mariner which had been dismasted and a very pretty young blonde skipper who appeared somewhat frantic. As I pulled up along side, she introduced herself as Myrna and looked to be a Swedish girl. I tied up alongside, and after climbing aboard secured the mast to the side of her boat and suggested she get aboard "Koinonia" as I was securing a tow line.
She pointed to a not too distant marina and we began to make steady progress with her Mariner in tow. She was dressed appropriately for the weather with a-bit-too-short shorts and a bikini top so I gave her my sweatshirt as it was getting colder now that the afternoon was wearing on. She mentioned that her father was the owner of a company that produced fine rum- had I ever heard of Gosslings? Heard of it? It's my favorite rum of all time. She told the tale of working for her dad's company and the many countries that her job enabled her to visit.  A very interesting girl- and way too pretty.
As we approached the dock, I noticed a distinguished silver haired gentleman waiting at the end of the finger pier. She cried out "Daddy" and soon as I was tying up my 23, was introduced to her father. I had to take the opportunity of mentioning my love for Gosslings Rum and before  I knew it, all three of us were aboard his cooporate jet sipping Dark and Stormys. Wondering where we were going, he said: "Where else? Bermuda". Who was I to argue, sipping fine rum with the companys owner with his georgeous daughter. I did what any true blue American male would do: I called home to tell the Admiral that I'd be a bit late.
As we approached the Island, he noted that we was looking for a director of rum distribution for the Northern hemisphere and, as a token of thanks for saving his daugher, would I consider the position? Tough decision but, hey- these opportunities only come along once in a lifetime.
Fast forward: I now live in Bermuda, have sold my building business and take clients out on my Compac 23 wineing and dining them with Gosslings Rum. Myrna usually accompanys me and she and the Admiral have become good friends. Just now, I'm writing this on a very warm day in Bermuda while on a beam reach and.......and....what?...what the?.....where am I?.... Where's Myrna?..... Where's my house in Bermuda?..... And why is it so cold?......

Notice that even in this whimsical daydream, the more he drinks, the more he drinks and the worse he spells.  Typical Bob.

Now, where are my sunglasses, Myrna?

hey Spartan..  the sky has been filled with flurries all day, but no accumulation..  we had a pretty good trip to  Pittsburgh..  went to see  "You say tomato, I say shut up"  at the  cabaret theater downtown  this afternoon..   met my former sister in law for  dinner tonight..  tomorrow we are headed to the nationality rooms at Pitt in the morning, Primanti's for lunch ( downtown)  and the history center to see the exhibit on 1968.. then on to ohio where we are going to visit Lehman's hardware store..  i have been getting their catalog for at least 15 years..  can't wait to see the store!   then on to cleveland to see the rock and roll hall of fame.. this is fair compensation for my step daughter who has no interest what so ever in hardware stores -  and we might enjoy it too!    and after that, assuming that we are not snowed in,  we have to return home..    if this were summer, i would certainly divert to Moraine St park for a quick sail with you!    jt

1. Primanti's for lunch ( downtown)
2.  if this were summer, i would certainly divert to Moraine St park for a quick sail with you!    jt

There are two Primanti's downtown - I assuming you'll be at the one off Smallman Street near the museum, I work two blocks from the one in Market Square (near the PPG building - the all glass one that looks like a castle)

If this were summer I would love to have you out for a quick sail.  For that matter anyone traveling through Pittsburgh or nearby, schedules permitting!!!
