 ;D
For Christmas this year my wife wanted to go surprise my in laws on Christmas day. they live in Oklahoma and have had a lot of trouble in 2012, their house burned down, the new house they bought had some issues, and then had a contractor highly recommended do a job that I saw when I was down there that I would swear a 2 year old did.......

So despite all of this they had to move in only to get a new insurance inspector to tell them that they need a new roof or no coverage..... They were told this after it was all closed on, contractor is inside making a mess of things and taking their money, and only gives them 2 weeks to be in a contract to get the roof done while one week is holiday week Christmas/New Years......

Under the cover of night, we drove through Missouri, into Oklahoma arriving (extremely tired) at her Sister's house. The trip took about 9 hours.

We slept for 3 hours after being up a total of around 24 hours. Then the fun began.

When we surprised them we just walked in, I had a digital camera going, and the look on all of their faces was priceless. Her brother and his girlfriend, my wifes sisters child (different sister than the one who took us in that morning) father in law, and then her mom came in.

Really goes to show that Christmas isnt about gifts and money as we have so easily made it become now....... it is about the thought behind the gift that you give...... the memory that will forever be left behind when you go back home. We were told by both of the in-laws that it was truly the best gift they could have ever gotten, and their most favorite of everything that they got. :D

We stayed there that night, and Wednesday night. Came home on Thursday.

I will edit the video sometime to cut out the lead up where we all stand around, and post it for those who want to watch it.

I know many of you have kids, I hope you can appreciate the thought that went into this. :D

God Bless, and I hope you all had a GREAT Christmas.

Mac:
That was the perfect gift. I have no love for wannabe contractors and after Sandy, here in NJ, they seem to have crawled out of the woodwork.
   Looking forward to the video!

Really nice thing to do Mac, glad you could pull it off.  Made quite a few of those Christmas road trips from Oklahoma when I lived there.  Eleven hours from Tulsa to the Gulf Coast, always hoping the Muskogee turnpike wasn't iced over when it was time for me to head out.  Where in Oklahoma do your in-laws live?

They live in Mannford, sister in law lives in Tulsa (sand springs area)

We got super lucky on weather, and instead of taking my 4wd truck with a whole barrage of new things (just had to have a bunch done on it due to age and new tires as well) Last minute we changed and took our front wheel drive SUV while staring at weather of possible snow and such.

My wife was so set on going, there was no telling her no.......   And on our way back we were supposed to get hit hard where we live in Illinois, but we dodged the bullet there too  ;D

We actually lived in Sand Springs.  South side of the river in Prattville.  Might have been neighbors......Sailed Keystone when I lived there, hung out in "New" Mannford. :)  We were there from 1980 through 1988.

Here is the Video, I edited it all myself, think it looks pretty good.
