Anchor / Bow Roller

Hi Folks,

There was a request for some photos of the bow roller.  Here's the one I built from some left over 7/8" cherry.  It holds a 10lb claw anchor.  I drilled a 1/4" hole in the anchor through which the retaining pin goes.  You can see the anchor is offset to port.  I left all the deck hardware, and the forestay/jib attachment points, where they were.  I located the battery a bit to starboard to offset the anchor weight.  This roller, and the anchor, worked well this year.  It was handy to have the anchor up there for storage and for deployment.  The roller is attched to the deck with four 1/4" ss machine screws, through-bolted with washers/nuts on the interior. (The picture from spring shows the old colorado registration stickers....)

Looks good and appears to be sturdy.
Good work

Thanks for sharing, especially with the photos. When I finally find my CP16 I may have to duplicate this.

Jason, that is a very fine anchor roller and plow anchor. With that plow anchor this boat can be the lead boat having all the rode and a few foot of chain for...I'd guess for at least five CP-16's all festooned together on a moderate breezy day. The fact that the shank of the anchor rests on wood and not the fiberglass deck is a plus...what about the arched vinyl coated [to hold it's shape] chain between the anchor and rode? And the rope pipe leading to the storage below deck of the anchor line? Hummm any details? Is that anchor line going down inside the vent on the hatch or fore deck? Than no rope pipe.

Anyway good job.

Hi, I just feed the rode through the rubber vent, I can rotate the vent forward and the line pays out pretty easy.  It's a big ole anchor, but I don't like the fear of drifting at anchor.I also have a wee danforth stowed. Last sail of the season coming up Wed.

Well today, on a bright, 60 deg F., windless afternoon we, with great sadness, pulled our two CP-19's...Comfort & Joy plus Wind Rover out of Wama Lama Lagoon and towed them home.

Our season is done~till next April :'(
