Some know that I am a Lightning Survivor. Had received a Lightning Shock that messed me up pretty bad on June 14th 2010.

I joined a lightning survivors group this year and started to finally get some medical help that is working literally a few months ago.
Through that group they were contacted by ABC's show "20/20" and they are doing a survivor series.

I got interviewed today and told I will be on the show. I will be Interviewed in person in the following weeks.
Very excited about this, and just had to share, and will also let everyone know when it will air so you can watch my ugly mug  :-* on the TV if you so desire :D

The show will cover not only a direct strike survivor, but a shock survivor as well, both dealing with lightning. I also know the Strike survivor as well and she is not far from me. They want to get us together as well which is cool because I have never met her in person yet, and she has been a big help to me.

So anyway, just excited and had to share, I hope my face doesnt break the camera......

Well, that is very cool! Not that you got hit by lightening, but being interviewed on a show! Should be very interesting. I know all us sailors worry about lightening, so looking forward to hearing your tale.

Thanks, Mac.
How did you get struck? And how is a shock different from a direct strike? Glad you made it ok. We've had a few lightening fatalities here in NJ this past year. Mostly people in the wrong place at the wrong time. Looking forward to your TV debut...don't forget to mention the Compac site!!!!

Mac,

I'm glad to hear you are recovering from your electrical experience, I just cant imagine going through that ordeal and surviving.

Its amazing what the human body can take in some case and yet be so fragile to other injuries.

I wish you well and am looking forward to watching your interview.

Bob23,
The strike isnt direct strike like other group members (yes there is a group) and classifies it as a strike shock.
The Lightning hits somewhere close and then gets the person. Most people have a small shock from it, but I was unlucky and got hit pretty hardcore.
The gains I have were that my brain came back after about a year, meaning I was showing signs of getting better in my brain that were able to be seen by my wife and I. The medical care I received was laughable..... sadly that is the norm for all the victims......
My body damages are many, which actually mimics a direct strike survivor I talk to almost daily. She was struck in her left hand, I too was shocked on my left hand.
She has a bit more wrong with her, and cant work, I am lucky that I worked every day after the shock, and glad to work for a company that took it easy on me.

I will let everyone know when it will be on, I guess they plan to shoot it in the coming weeks, have it on in first part of October sometime. I will also get to meet on camera my Strike survivor friend for the first time! That is exciting in its own right!
