Just picked up a 1993 Compac 16 -- and found I'm missing the BLOCK at the end of the boom.  I'm guessing that it is a DOUBLE SHEAVE side by side block (without becket).....
Does anyone know what size block?  Also, the sheets were missing.....I'm guessing that the MAIN sheet and Roller-Furling Jib sheets should be 5/16".  Can anyone confirm this?
   MANY THANKS.......JOE

i got 3/8 for the mainsheet
the block is a fiddle block, but originaly i had the double block
they both work fine,
40 mm blocks will fit up to 3/8 line

Howdy Joe,

Congrats on the new boat! You're correct, the original mainsheet block was a stainless dual sheave 40mm, but I think you'll find a 40mm fiddleblock w/o becket is the way to go. The side by side configuration has a tendency to twist the lines and the fiddle doesn't.. I put a Harken 40 fiddle on my '77 CP-16 and love it! I had to enlarge the tang hole so the shackle would fit through, but that only took a few minutes with a small file.

Although I can't speak to roller furling sheets, all of my new running rigging is 1/4" Sta-Set or Sta-Set X, 1/4" per the spec.. All of my old lines where way oversized when I bought the boat last year, I still haven't figured out way people think "bigger is better" when it comes to lines?

Hope this helps!
