Well, I found her just an hour and a half north and she's a beauty.  '87 CP16/2 with a spinnaker and lots of extras.  They say that you don't get to pick your boat she picks you.  Boy, I'm glad she found me.  The only problem will be waiting to pick her up, I've got to close a deal on my C27, happens on October 1st.  I hope to do a little trailer sailing around western MI after that.

If anyone has any info about sailing these little boats with a spinnaker I would love to here from you.  The kite looks like brand new and the PO had never used it.  Do I need a whisker pole for this setup?

Hi Troy,

Best of success with your new boat. My 1990 CP16/3 is not much different than your '87. I assume you have a bowsprit too?

I had a GP 14 before my CP 16 and the chap I sold it too is giving me the neat lettle multicolored spinnaker back. I have a perect size spinnaker pole but need to figureout what to attach it to on the mast to try the new sail without adding any hardware. I may use a homade fitting attached with a radiator hose clamp to try it.

I too would be interested in anyone's experience with a spinnaker . . .

Congratulations Troy!  How did you find her?  That sure beats driving to Fla I bet.  Just curious- why the step down from the Catalina?  Hopefully the Compac will be a lot easier on you and the wallet!  Enjoy it.

Troy;
Congrats on the new CP.
Are you ready to take it out, or have you already?
It is good to hear someone local has a CP-16 too.
We should get together for a sail this fall, I usually sail Hardy Pond during the week, it's about 20 miles east of  you.
I am located in Croton Twp, east of the dam.
Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks to all of you for your insights on the CP 16.  I can't wait to get her home.

We stepped down from the C27 so that we would be able to explore some other places and to ease theill effects of having an older, larger boat.  My daughter's only concerns about the CP 16 was that there were no lifelines she likes to sit on the side and hang on there.  I think she will get used to the shroud and the smaller lakes will have smaller waves making it safer to sit on the cabin top.

I'm sure that I will have more questions about sailing these boats.  I will stay in touch.

Welcome Troy from a new CP16 owner myself.
Good luck with her, she sounds like a beauty.

I think I finally figured out how to post a picture of the new to me CP 16 #2382.  Tell me what you think of her.

Good looking boat Troy.  As an owner of a much older compac 16, I can tell you that Hutchin's did not mess with a good thing. Even with the handy bowsprit, a   com-pac 16 is a com-pac 16 like no other! :)

what a great looking boat! when you see those lines you just want to get it wet. many years of happy sailing
