What finish are you using on the cabin cole on your Sun Cats?

Thank you,

I finished mine with epifines varnish. You have to seal all the sides. So take it out and finish it out of the boat. Seal the top, bottom and sides. It has lasted 5 years so far and only shows a few scratches. I used Satin finish and diluted the varnish per their instructions.

What is a cabin sole or cole? I have a Suncat so I must have one.

bfelton,

Removed it from the boat and coated underside and edges with epoxy to seal against moisture. Then I applied several coats of Cetol Marine Light, the same finish used on all other interior wood that shows and all exterior wood as well. Finally, to further protect it from impact dents and wear I put on a piece of thin rubber perforated material used under carpets for non skid and cut a piece of beige carpet to fit over the entire sole. Protects the sole, looks good, and feels great under my bare feet.
