installing a round hatch cover on side of CP16

I had a chance to take the cover off and do some measurements this afternoon.  Skip, you're right that the rectangular thing would be uncomfortable against our backs.  Also, it's much too deep for the place I was thinking of mounting it.  Glad I measured before ordering.  I'll have to do some more thinking and research.

There are some possibilities, but with the curves of the cockpit and clearance issues, this might need to be a custom job (glass, wood).  I recall reading something about a sailor using a heat gun on as plastic cubby as shown above to remold it slightly for a good fit.   I vote whatever you do, think long and hard about it before you drill a big hole in your boat :)
