had the grandsons over for the weekend.  the 4 year old wanted to play in the boat. i told him it was wet.  he answered "then we need to check under the floor for water".  smart kid.

after dropping them at home, we headed to the grocery store where i thought the overhead sign in the aisle read "boat tissue".  upon clearing my eyes...it was bath tissue.  maybe i do need to just sit in her for a while.

when i  was a kid, my older brother bought  a bell bouy speed boat with a  35 hp chrysler motor on it ( not all that speedy)   it was parked  on the trailer in our carport for a long time, and i finally worked up the nerve to get in it.. ( did not want to offend my older brother!)   i spent countless hours in that boat - pretending all sorts of things..   and just think...  now i love to go down to the marina and just sit in Adagio's cockpit and sip a cup of tea while the sun sets..   not much has changed!   i imagine that your grandson has some wonderful sailing experiences ahead in life.. he sure is lucky that his grandfather has such a great boat!    jt

Here on the NJ coast, winter seems to have forgotten about us. So far. If I had my Koinonia in the water, I'd have been sailing today. Nice SSE winds, sun, temps in the low 60's!

Guys,

It sure feels like Spring around here! Temps in the 60's (we're talking Philadelphia here folks!) wind at 20 or so knots. If I could get Pegasus back together again in less than 1/2 a day, I'd be out on the Delaware or headed for Barnegat. But, I'll not try and do that, because if I did, you could be sure of 2 - 3 feet of snow come March! We may get it anyway, but at least nobody can blame me!

"...sit in Adagio's cockpit and sip a cup of tea while the sun sets.." Yeah, jt. Sounds perfect to me.

At the risk of jinxing, I have yet to shovel snow this year.  Unbelievable for central Ohio!!!   We've had an inch or two here and there...childs play for this region. I don't recall a milder winter here ever.  In fact at this point in the winter, we would be lucky to see 32 degrees let alone 40 with sun.

It's not 60 here in Ohio, but certainly not bad at all.  Almost put the top down the other day (should have!).

I'm sure all you Northerners recall last winter's blizzards, ice, cold and misery.   We got roughly 80" of snow last year...this winter, oh maybe 5 or 6 and that's being generous.  Of course we broke the rain record with over 56" of rain in 2011.

Let's pray this pattern continues!!

Even Wisconsin has had an incredibly mild winter.  I've worn a winter coat one time and used the snowblower only once.  Winter isn't through with us just yet though..... Here is this morning's view.

82 degrees here yesterday.  I would have sailed, but too much wind.  25-30 mph, I won't go out without at least one experienced crew member, and none available.

Weird winter.  Last year set records for total snowfall (16"), number of snowfalls (7).  This year, a couple of flurry sessions.  I have a half rack of firewood I'm going to have to move to the back.  Normally I can burn the whole rack before spring.

I've heard of snow...we used to get it. So far, 2 dustings of about 1 to 2 inches each. No joke! But we're not out of the woods yet, so I'm not packing my snow shovels away just yet.
Good winter not to live in Europe!

woke up to 3" of the white stuff here in northern illinois.  it took me a whole 15 minutes to shovel the drive before heading off to work.  a lot better than last year when on february 2nd a blizzard hit and i was mandated to work at the prison for 32 straight hours without a break or rest.

Record high temperature today of 68 degrees here in upstate New York. I was out on the ski slopes, but my boat is definitely calling me to attention!

biting my nails over that one.  I've got my annual ski trip to the Colorado Rockies coming up in just over two weeks, worried about the snow conditions.  Spring can start just after that trip.:)
