While cleaning out Odina-Aurore I found an original copy of the Com-Pac Owners Handbook 1983 edition complete with the registration card.  On pages 20 and 21 there is mention of an optional fully gimballed butane fired stove for the C-P19. I am aware of the optional galley but my question is where did the stove mount in the cabin and what did it look like? The galley pictures that I have do not show a stove as far as I can see. I purchased a Glo-mate butane stove to use on our boat and am trying to fit it into a galley design of my own. The stove is about 11"x12"x4 1/2" an runs very efficiently. Thanks again for your help.
Regards,

The stove and the rest of the gally is fitted just astern of the mast compression post and between the two vee-births on the C-P 19's

Thanks Skip, I have seen a few pictures showing the galley location and have a CP-19 brochure showing the optional galley. Is the stove mounted next to the small sink? Do you know what kind of stove it is and how is it gimbaled? All I can see in the brochure is a sliding top/ counter arrangement. Thanks again. Steve

Hello, I am new here having just bought a CP19, I believe it is a 1982 model, possibly hull number 22... I'm not sure how to read the hull number yet.  The number is A8V0022M82D-19 if someone knows how to decipher that, please reply.

I have a gimbaled stove and a galley. The stove mounts to a bracket at the aft port side of the cabin, near the hatchway. The galley sits just aft of the V berth, with a table that hinges up toward the hatch so sitting on the side berths puts the table between the crew.

She has a lot of wood on her, and I would like to find out what was original, and maybe if some was added. Then of course I would like to begin making her the most gorgeous gal on the sea, (or lake).

Thanx for your post. Enjoy the boat all C-P's are honeys.
Going back to skip's post of July 23, 2006...post #255 at 9:55:58 I gleened from that post the following in part...

your number given was
A8V0022M82D-19.     A few things don't make sense. 8 may be a B.

ABV=MFG=Hutchins Boat Mfg. Some numbers start early numbers start with HUTC, but it's still Hutchins.

0022 would be hull build number 22.

'M' may be an 'H' for March [?]  or...

82D-19 might be 1982 D= November-19th?

Just guessing. skip.

Hey Guys,
There are some pictures of the original galley in the Com-Pac Gallery.
File 31 in the CP-19 gallery
File 11 & 12 in the Marcus G. gallery

All these show the galley minus the stove so I think one could use the gimballed stove off the campanionway or a portable on the galley.

I of course like mine the way I did it.  The alcohol stove is in the little counter next to the sink.

Hopefully this helps bringing older boats back to authenticity or new and improved beauty.

Thanks Skip, the hull number was written on the bill of sale when I gave the gentleman a deposit to hold her until I could come back with hard cash. So yes, the 8 could be a B. But wouldn't it be odd that it was only Hull #22? Or maybe that is right if they were first made in 1982.....

Thanks for the info on the stove Lost Lake. I am sure your boat will be gorgeous when it is finished. You probably have all the original options. I made my own galley and shelves (see the photo gallery). Happy sailing on No. 22. Steve

I pick the boat up in two days, then I can snap some pictures. When I called and asked what kind of shape she was in, the owner just said, "Well, I guess she's pristine!".

Then when I saw the boat, he wasn't kidding. Original gel coat still shines, but it is faded to white a bit. All the woodwork is beautiful. What a shock it is seeing a Com-Pac after looking at O'Days for two months!!

I want to get her just as perfect as can be, even though she is so very nice now.
