jt,

I really like the idea of a rendezvous at the park. Sounds like it would be a load of fun. That's the place I was trying to get to with my friend Bob. Ran out of time and had to fly back to the marina. One more tack would have probably done it, but it would have been depressing to have finally made it and then have to immediately return... and be late, besides!

I'm still warming up to the idea of Nockamixon late in October. Leaves should be great! I'll let you know.

Jt and ? -

Guess I'm finished for the season on the bay, however, I'm still hopefull for a shot at Nockamixon. This coming weekend looks to be pretty chilly up there, so I'm hoping for a "freak" weekend in November. I really don't want to put Pegasus away just yet! See my new post re: Mercer Lake.

Hi Marty,
i just posted to bob's thread a few moments ago.. we may be making a trip down to jersey to put the tarp on adagio for the winter season..   it does look like it may be a bit cold this weekend, but if he is up for it, we might give the idea of getting out on the water a try.   i know that you and i had talked about this past weekend.. we had parents' weekend which means lots of conferences through saturday morning and then my step daughters ended up singing on sunday, so we were tied up most of the weekend..  it sure was a nice one, though - sounds like you enjoyed the time with your daughter and grand kids..  good for you!  let's keep in touch..  if we don't get on the water this year, maybe we can substitute an evening for tea and desert and talk about plans for next year!    i will keep my fingers crossed for an exceptionally nice weekend in early november..   take care,  jt

MLBLK-

After sailing a CP16 and a CP19 for 2 seasons each, there is no doubt that the CP16 "rides" better and slices through waves with less pounding.
The hull shape of the 16 really is perfectly matched for a small cruising boat--able to handle short or long frequency waves with relative ease compared to others much larger.

I recall taking my brother and 6 yr old niece out on the CP16 before he bought it. The day was blustery and the lake was choppy, which is unusual-caused by several days of high winds (small lake+ very deep=usually smooth).  He was surprised at how little sea he felt while plowing into waves of about 18-24" (short frequency waves).   I took the smoothness for granted I guess.  Meanwhile other boats--all larger on the lake (20-25 feet) were visually being tossed around a bit, despite their extra weight.

Fact:  Its' not the heft that makes it so smooth, it's the well thought out hull design.   Clark Mills knew what he was doing.

Yep, the CP16 is one sweet little pocket cruiser!!!

Salty19 - Yeah, I think I'll buy one... oops! I guess I already did! And I am very happy. When I researched the boat, I learned how stable and solid it was. At my age, stability is pretty important. I recently bought extra teak handrails to install on Pegasus. Never too many things to grab on to. I first saw a CP16 for sale in Morrisville, PA. about 4 or 5 years ago. I really couldn't afford it, but it was in absolutely pristine condition. Somebody got a really beautiful example. From that moment on, I researched and searched for a CP16. My friend, Dario, who is an avid sailor, kept updating me on CP16 finds. Finally, last July, I was able to nail Pegasus down! No regrets.

jt - Brrrr! Hope all goes well in tucking Adagio in for the long winter's night. I like the idea of "tea and dessert", we'll definitely keep in touch. As far as November goes, once in a while we get a November in the 70's and 80's... you never know. Pegasus and I are hanging in there, ever hopeful. Right now, Pegasus is covered in ice!

Spent the Sat. blizzard personally demonstrating the human body can withstand freezing temps, 15-20 knot winds, accompanied by rain, snow, and ice, without the benefit of legal adult beverages.  West Virginia eventually won the football game over Rutgers in the second half, but I was long gone by the half-time.  I was not alone.  I cannot remember a time I was more uncomfortable........including skiiing in sub-zero temps, delivering boats in 30 deg. November.  Brutal!  Only a hot shower and several glasses of a Calif. cabernet in front of the fireplace returned my body to nearly normal temp. disposition.

Mountainer - Sorry you suffered so! Bet you wish you waited another week... what a difference. Today (Tuesday) was sooo nice, but no air around my neighborhood. But, anybody around Barnegat that had a boat in the water would have had a great time.

I did make it up to Lake Nockamiixon on Sunday... nice!

Nay, nay Marty:
No wind down here today but a great last day of the tanning season. Koinoina gets pulled out on Saturday. Wah!

Mountaineer- Those Thermo-rest heated back supports (2 for about $7 at your local pharmacy) really do help maintain warmth, along with proper attire.
I don't camp in the cold without them...coincidentally in the mountains of WV.  Take me home, country road!!!

Bob, poor Koinonia--she looks a lot better at her mooring than under cover.  But I know she appreciates the cover.

Speaking of camping... I believe an CP "event" is going to be held on Barnegat Bay just outside Cedar Creek (Bayville) in the Spring. Hopefully someone, Bob23?, will provide details.

Marty K.

P.S. Wasn't that a clever way to get the thread back on track!

Clever Marty, clever.
I don't know about any CP event yet but I'll be putting something together for the spring. Maybe May or June, depending on when everyone's boat is in the water. As for me, mine gets hauled out tomorrow. Wah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pegasus is sitting out in front the house in limbo... to sail or not to sail! The weather looks pretty good, although cool, for the weekend. Sunday looks very tempting. Maybe I can stretch the season out just a little bit more...
