Well Bob23 I am going to follow your instructions and try and post a picture of Allure.........hope this works !!!!!

OKAY.......THAT'S MORE LIKE IT !!!!! Let's try another one.

Well now it's 2:30am ESTand I'm going to bed, but just one more...this is cool...thanks Bob23

Would not be complete without a picture of yours truly LOL !!!

I'll now have to take some pictures of the 12 gallon holding tank upgrade, the Maxwell windlass with a vberth mounted battery installation and a diesel fuel polishing setup and post pictures of them as well. Like they say " a little knowledge can be dangerous". I think the hardest part of posting a picture here is the Photobucket part of it but with those step by step instructions anyone can work thru it...good job Bob23!!

Gorgeous boat!  Thanks for sharing.

Bruce:
Very nice ship! Thanks for the thanks but, and maybe I'm loosing my mind, I don't remember giving you picture posting instructions. With the diffuculty I had in posting pictures, I'd be the last one to come to for help. Nonetheless, you done it.
It's never good for me to see Compac 27's. I start getting 4 foot-itis! I really love my 23  but it's nice to be able to stand erect like a real homo sapien.
Thanks for the pictures...keep 'em coming!

You're welcome.  Have you listed your boat in the new Registry file?

Nice looking boat. What year is it? Probably the best thing Compac did was add more port lights. My 86 only has three on each side. But you have five!!! I thought the 27/3 had four. How did you get five?

I've got 8-footitis, but I'd have to move onboard, cause the Admiral would divorce me --Hmmm...

Nice boat! Like bmiller, I wondered about the five ports. I've been toying with the idea of adding to my three (27 mark 1) and those five look great. How do you like the full baton sails?

Hello:
Allure is a 1987 model and originally came with three opening ports per side. The extra two, one large and one more small were removed from my parts boat (also a 27/2). The most daunting part of it all was putting a sawzall to the cabin walls, I really hate to cut holes anywhere on a boat. I went from the centerline to centerline of the existing ports divided by two for the position of the new ports. One mistake I made was the middle small existing port and the location of the forward smalls existing port is vertically higher than the middle existing small port. I had roughed out he openings then stepped outside to look at it from a distance and then realized I should have taken vertical measurements between them two as well. Luckily I had just rough cut the openings. I ended splitting the vertical difference between the two small existing ports and was able to finish cut the hole in the correct horizontal and vertical location. One thing I was disappointed in was how little sealant / adhesive between the teak, inside cabin walls and the ports them self's. When it all went together for the final time I used at least three tubes of marine grade sealant per side. Sealed between the outside ring to cabin, inside teak to cabin, and port frame to teak and cabin. I actually used so much sealant that the original mounting screws for the ports were not long enough anymore, ended up using stainless screws and stainless cap nuts. I also relpaced all the glass with smoked acrylic inserts, luckily I had a band saw to cut them to size. A local shop had sold me a bunch of left over pieces from their projects that were big enough for what I needed them to finish up at. One word of caution for anyone that replaces their glass with acrylic, make the new insert about a 1/32" smaller than the pocket. This stuff expands at a rate more than glass and if you make it a snug or tight fit it will warp when summertime comes and you will end up with a distorted window insert. Yes I have one that I fit two close LOL. Here is what Allure looked like when purchased five years ago.

Thanks, Allure-sailor, for the report about your ports. I may try to do the same - more light would be good but it also improves the llok of the boat. It seems to stretch the cabin and makes the boat look longer and mroe elegant.

Anyone with spare ports out there????

Hi:
There seems to be two different manufacturer of these ports. One set says ABI on them an the other brand has no markings but I believe they were made by Newfound Metals. Both of my boats were built in 1987 so that was kind of odd. They are "pretty much identical" including the screens for them. If anyone would like a more detailed instructions or guidelines as to shortcuts, pitfalls and procedures please drop me a line. One note of caution if anyone ever takes out more than one port at a time please remember to mark everything and keep them separate from other port Assembly's. These are NOT PRECISON machine parts. I inadvertently mixed up flanges, frames, and glass the inserts and it took me days to match them all up again. These are castings, and from mold to mold there are subtle differences from assembly to assembly and should not be intermixed. Just think about the small flanges that go on the outside. I had six flanges and had to figure out which was originally the outside or inside face, what was top or bottom and which opening they came out of.........not fun!!!! By the way I had them glass bead blasted so there was no tell tale makings left on them to help things out...they looked great but it made matters worst. MARK EVERYTHING !!

Excellent picture postings of this wonderfully attractive sailing vessel. The CP-27.

The All Sailboat Show, Navy Pier, Chicago.
Let me say this about that! I was onboard the HUNTER 27 [?] at the show and followed the Hunter salesmen from their boat to the CP-27 where the Com-PAC 27 received rave reviews from the Hunter guys. They said the CP-27 was neater, and sweeter then the Hunter. So how cool is that?
