Does any one have pictures of how their Loose footed main sail is rigged?

Don't have a picture. Someone else no doubt does though. On my Legacy there is a single slug in the boom track at the clew, with the out haul for tension adjustment.

Hideaway posted a video somewhere...on the 23 section I think.

Lostsailor - I have some detailed pics of my outhaul and tack fitting for loose footed main.  Will see if I can get some time this evening to post them here.

Thanks Ron, (AKA potcakeboy) I kind of modeled my sail inventory after yours.  full batten loose footed main, 110% jib on CDI FF1 furling gear, asymmetrical spinnaker. If you have suggestions on rigging the spinnaker I would welcome your advice. I look forward to any photos you can share.

Bob 23 Thanks for the info, I did see the Hideaway video on You Tube.

Kahp ho: I do believe my sail is also equipped with the singel sail slug.

Thanks and good sailing to all.

Try this link, it is to pics in my photobucket.

If it doesn't provide access, let me know and I'll fix it.

Have been horrendously busy here lately, so I'd ask if I may defer elaborating on the topic this evening.  Please remind me in a couple of days and I will describe in detail the rigging for my spinnaker.

Take care,
Ron

Ron,

thanks I can view the pictures. Whenever you get free I look forward to hearing what you have to say. No hurries, no worries.

Cheers mate!

I looked at the photos. I take it you added the track on the boom instead of using the slugs. Was there an issue with the slugs, does the track work better? What did that slide come from? Was it original with a 2:1 outhaul or did you add that?

Potcake boy

BMILLER - The slide is a Ronstan 1 1/4" with nylon liners mounted on 1" track.  I chose the track because the bottom surface sat nicely on top of the slot in the boom.  It's a little loose but slides easily.  I removed the spring loaded locking pin, and use the bail for a shackle for the clew cringle and a hook for the reef cringle.  The length of the track allows for generous adjustment in the cord depth and can be used for the reef with out the need for a line.  I prefer not to crush the sail against the boom with a reef line, and the use of the hook on the tack and clew allows the loose skirt to be rolled up and tied.
I added the outhaul.  The aft block is fastened to the boom with nuts and machine screws - the nuts and screws are assembled through the holes in the block, and then threaded close enough to just allow sliding into the aft end of the sail slot on the boom.  Once in place the screws are tightened.  This works well for just two screws, but I did the same for the track and it was a project.  What I would recommend is to use washers next to the nuts and bent in a semi circle to captivate the nut, and provide "ears".  This would hold the nut from turning as you tighten the screws (it would be kind of like wingnuts).

Lostsailor - When I received my sails from National the came with heavy plastic battens.  In the view looking from the bottom of the sail, you can see the lack of shape in the upper part of the sail.  Partly because there was no wind at the time of the picture but mainly because the top batten was too stiff, so I replaced it with a tapered batten from West Marine.  Now I get good shape all the way up.

Please present any questions about this rig and I'll try my best to give a good answer.  It works well and is pretty simple to operate.
