Beautiful, Mike. Just the first thing I need to see on a Monday morning- a fellow Compac-er's ship where she belongs- in the water. I love the hull color and all the color coordinated accesories. Yep, she's a beauty. But what's the deal with all the pontoon boats? Tell me you're not the only sailboat.

Very Sharp!! Really enjoy the mint green.
Mint Tulips anyone?

skip.

Thanks for posting pic's of the beautiful Island Time.  I really like the boat name.  The photobucket pics will give me something pleasurable to look at today.  I am sick at home with pneumonia. Started out with a really bad cold, then trying to be a good dad I sat outside in the rain with 40 degree temps to watch him compete in a track and field competition.  Dumb!!!

Thanks again - she is a beauty.

Hey, really looking good!  Like the covered pool floats that you made up for the lifeline rests.  You've inspired me to get out the sewing machine, brush off the dust, and learn to make that kind of stuff.

Bob23, I probably have the same sailboat to powerboat ratio in my marina.  About ten to one power with most of them being party barges.  Sadly, most of the boats, including the sail never leave the dock.  That won't be me.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.  My arms still hurt from polishing her!

As you can see there are still a few minor items to attend to--topping lift need to be fitted correctly, mast raising line needs to be stowed, anchor needs mounted.   Whisker pole T track and ring needs installed (wanted to wait until the sails were up to guage the necessary height).

And the homemade furler seems to be a bit stiff...need to analze that and fix it.

At least the motor behaved itself.  I dipped the carb in cleaner twice and sprayed cleaner and compressed air in every passage I could find, replaced fluids and spark plug over the winter.  Fired right up and ran well (Nissan 6hp 4 stroke).

This is early in the season; there is roughly a 30% sail to 70% pontoon ratio at the marina.  Most of the sailboats just aren't in the water yet.  For once the compacs outnumber the catalina's but that will change soon.  Some boats I just do not know what they are. The lake is 10hp or less and the marina is 25' and under boats so nothing big here--it's a very peaceful lake without a lot of traffic.

Get well soon, Greene...

Brack- With 4 yards of sunbrella (60" wide), we made the following:  Yeti 35qt cooler cover, lifeline covers (two on sides, one at rear), two tiller covers (I screwed up the first one), rudder cover (not shown in the pics), 4 winch covers (again not shown), and two cabin bags with pockets. The sail cover matches but that came with the boat. Still have enough left over for maybe a sheet bag for the mast if we're lucky.  The color of the sunbrella is aquamarine.

It was 29 deg F Monday morn and did not rise above 52 deg F but dry. Today it's just as cold but warmed up enough to make rain instead of ice. Dock is still on the beach up here.

Bob, I'm on Hoover reservoir in Westerville, OH. Not a big place but close to home and as I mentioned, peaceful.

Skip,   sorry to hear the weather is not cooperating up there.  We get snow and freezing temps here in April about every other year, but never in May. Hang in there...it will get nicer.

Mike,

Sharp looking boat.  Very nice!  We are at 45 degrees here in South Eastern Wis
Rigged Summer Escape on the trailer just to check everything out.  Good thing, the forestay lower threaded part of the turnbuckle is BENT!!!!
I don't dare just straighten it and go on, it might break later or sooner.  So we are looking into where to order a new one at the lowest cost.
Gerry, at com-pac wants $109.  yikes!
Got the battery charged up and in.  Ordered 12 inch wheels and tires for the trailer.
AND seriously looking for a 19 footer.  Com-pac of course!
You and Mike Greene are getting to me by up sizing.  Good for you guys.  We sold our old house, finally , soooooooooooooo.

Great looking boat.

She's beautiful! Kinda makes me look forward even more to taking delivery of a ComPac 19 in 2 days.   It'll be our first sailboat!  My wife and I owned two powerboats for abount 14 years on the Chesapeake, sold them and have be Kayaking for the last 10 years.  We're now graduating to Sail, so our circle of life has moved from prop, to paddle and now wind power.   One question...did you make those catbird seats with cup holders and if so where did you get the plans?  Thanks, Eric

Doug,  I looked at them at West Marine last week (I was looking at replacing one as well) and they were in stock and less than $20.

Doug-

Can't believe they want $109 for a turnbuckle!!!
As you can see the furler is installed. Only the working jib would fit, the 155% genoa was too long.  Eventually I'll either get the 155 shortened or get a new sail with luff foam and UV cover (sails are in great shape though).  You are the man for making me the spool, it looks great.  I figure I'll buy you and Linda a steak (or whatever you want) dinner at Carlyle for the effort.

Eric-Welcome to the forum and good luck with your soon to be CP19. Tell us more about it.   The stern rail seats shown are factory original issue.

Salty19,
I believe the price is for the entire forestay, i.e. cable and turnbuckle, maybe even pins and cotter pins////....

We are really looking forward to this years rendezvous.
Weather here sucks!  Haven't been out on the water yet.

Well then $100 doesn't sound bad at all for the whole shebang.

I believe you're looking for a 5/32" threaded turnbuckle.  But don't take my word for it...could be 1/4" thread. Sorry I wish I knew what threads these are for sure.

Been out once, and it was 48 degrees and blowing like stink, rigging was not adjusted yet so used the motor only to get to the slip.

Heading out tomorrow and Sat to actually go sailing.  Fixed the furler and it works smoothly as does the new jib cleats installed between the job winches and cleats.
