Hi Everyone,
I have designed and posted the collector's t-shirt for the Carlyle Lake 2010 reunion.  Gerry Hutchins gracefully sent me a larger Com-Pac icon to use on the front.
Remember sizes tend to run on the small side so order one up if you can.  The regular standard t shirt looks best....comes in 11 colors.
Also, I made up a coffee cup for the occasion also.

A caravan might work out if we go.  Do you know if anyone else would be coming through our way?

Have you looked into booking a room?  What looks like a good location to you?  The cabins at the state park look like they are a pretty good deal.  They have complimentary docks for cabin renters.  We haven't committed to going yet, but it sure is tempting.  We haven't trailered our 16 more than 50 - 60 miles a day yet, but I don't see any reason it should be an issue.  We just put new rims and tires on the trailer last season, so we have 2 spare tires.  Other than wheel bearings there isn't too much else to worry about. 

Congrats on the new garage set-up.  My son and I are building a detached 2.5 car garage for our toys this winter.  Puppy Luff is inside and dry.

We went down there a couple years ago for the 2008 Rendzvous and had no problems with the trailer or towing with 6 banger SUV.  Illinois is very flat.  Already looking into booking motel room.  Prob stay where we did before.  Plenty of parking.

Well we booked Cottage #4 at the park for the week, so count us in.  Strange check-in/out process there - you can only check-in or out on a Monday or a Friday.  No exceptions.  So we booked it from Friday July 9 to the following Friday.  Guess we get to play on Carlyle Lake a little longer.  It will be nice to meet some fellow Com-Pac'ers.

I'd be perfectly happy to camp on a 16 footer, but being happily married I would prefer to keep it that way.  The Admiral seems to enjoy learning how to sail with me, letting me buy a boat, toys for the boat, and even supporting me in building a garage for it all - but a 16 with a porta-potty for a week isn't going to happen.

Motel/cabin or no trip ... no brainer.

I called for a cabin this morning..they are booked solid now.  Got a reservation at the Microtel at Mariners Village-stayed here two years ago and was pleased with the rooms.

Will drive out July 8, sail July 9, 10, and 11, return home the 12th.    Awaiting a callback from the West Access Marina regarding reserving a transient slip.  This marina is within a short walking distance (1/8 mile) from the Microtel. I'm willing to pay a few bucks if I can avoid rigging/derigging 6 times during our stay.   My plan is to meet you guys at the Allens Branch ramp area each morning. 

Doug- I'll be picking up a t-shirt and maybe a glass mug here in the next few days.  For others to note...there are about 40 styles of shirts and 6 or 7 styles of coffee mugs/steins/travel mugs, etc.  Click on "more styles" to see them all.  Again Doug---very nice job on the design and thanks for doing that.

It is embarrasing.  Solo I would camp out for sure (even if you have to stay at a Marina--showers, trailer/vehicle storage etc).  And not really even to save money..just for the sheer experience of it. I plan to go solo this summer as often as allowable  But the wife will have no part of it for 4 nights!! And who can blame her, it's vacation.

    hey com-pac guys and gals, hey mr greene i was thinking that since you have a cabin maybe we could use that location for our bbq and maybe some after sail brews. i can bring enough chairs for everyone i think and maybe a grill although you will have a grill and picnic table there. the cabins are a short trip to the boat ramp and the motels. also i want everyone to think of activities that i can set up. i thought maybe we would "race arround the cans" one day. i can make the buoys. anything you guys and gals think of i would appreciate it. its really the first time i have organized an event and i have been relying on salty for a lot of good advice. thanks again buddy. i have located about three possible locations where we can all meet for drink lunch and swimming not much sand but a little mud on the feet never hurt anyone. like everyone i am really looking forward to seeing old sailing friends and meeting new ones. something about these little boats. oh, another thing, i have drawn a graffic for the front of a t shirt. it consists of a profile of your boat with hull number on the mainsail and the words com-pac yachts above. i did two shirts to see how they looked and i think pretty good. anyone who wants one i can handle it- for the 16s and 19s. no money except the cost of a t shirt. ill send a pic to salty 19 see what he thinks.

The cabin door will always be open to any and all Com-Pac'ers.  If there is enough parking/anchorage for a BBQ at the cabin then we are all for it.  Somebody has to catch some fish to cook too!  When we get closer to July (and we have a better idea on the head count) we can discuss provisioning for the BBQ.  Brenda and I will be happy to supply the coolers/ice and do the shopping run.   

The new shirt logo sounds great!  Keep us posted.
