Proper installation of deck hardware

I used 5200 on all the 16 hardware I restored, but am going with bedding compound this time.  It will be used to seal the teak and new jib cleats on a 19 .  All other hardware I'm not touching.  My logic here is the teak will have to removed and revarnished every few years. Permanently bonding with 5200 seems like a lot of work down the road.    If something will truly be permenant--like a swim ladder or rudder post that do not typically "wear out" like an engine mount or pulley--I would use 5200 on those joints.

Thanks, Skip and all. You have saved me from the error of my ways...not an easy task! I'll look into drilling on the boat...but can I still have my grease fittings? Please?
