Hi folks
I am getting my 1980 CP-16 ready for launch ... hopefully next weekend. Where do you all stash your anchor? Hang it off the pulpit? Not much room there. Down below? Not very handy. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Dave

When I owned a 1990 CP16 it had the bowsprit. I mounted my anchor on it usig a few bungy cords. I used about 4 feet of vinyl covered chain to connect the anchor to the anchor line. Fed half the chain and all the line into the chainlocker via the deck fitting.

An anchor can be a great safety item and needs to be easily deployable.

My 2 cents, Gil

Hi Dave

I have a '82 16footer and my anchor is on pulpit hanger.  Not having a bowsprit there is really no where else to put the anchor so that it is ready when you need it.

I use a small bungee cord to keep shank tight against bow fitting so it won't bang and mar boat. My anchor line is in a bucket under the Dorado vent. So as not to have the deck cluttered with line I have a small line with a loop on one end which is fitted around the Dorado with the other end passing down to the end of the anchor chain. when I need the line I pull it up through the Dorado  and then hook it to anchor.

As Gil said anchor needs to be easily deployable.

Good sailing

I have no problem secureing the anchor to the pulpit, or feeding the chain and line below deck; my question is where do you secure th anchor line?
Do you pull the line on deck and tie it off before heaving the anchor, or seure it some where below deck?

I'm always worried that I am going to drop the anchor overboard and have all of the line run thru my fingers before I realize it is gone.

Does anyone have a recommendation?

I have a hole in the bucket which the line is tied to.  If I forget to make line fast to bow cleat it will get my attention when the bucket hits the underside of the deck.

The bow cleat is the place to make the anchor line to when you have the scope you need for conditions.

If your really concerned about letting to much line out why not put a mark about 20 feet from end of line and another ten feet from end.

When I carried my line on deck I made the end fast to a pulpit stanchion (at deck level) but still made line fast to cleat when scope was right.

Hope this is of some help

Thanks ! I like the tying the line to the bucket, idea. I keep 100' of anchor line in an old Tide soap dispenser (I cut off enough of the top so the line that is stored in it can feed out easily.) I wouldn't ust the handle of the bucket to secure the anchor, but it will be just the ticket to keep the bitter end of the line from coming up the pipe and going overboard.
Neat. Simple.
Thanks again.

Hi guys, I also use a bucket to store the anchor line, then tie the anchor to the bow rail, when not needed I store inside.   BILL
