went sailing today with my Ida rudder.1st thing, the tiller does not go through the hole in the transom.it goes over the transom.being up so high it seemed strange at 1st.real nice when standing up during docking,or sorting through a mooring Field.no more sore back from bending over to reach tiller.it seems to point a bit higher.weather helm is less.turning is quicker.since you are not restricted by the size of the transom hole, sharper turns are possible.after one outing with the Ida rudder i am pleased, plus it looks a lot better than the factory rudder.now i have to find a use for the transom  hole.
