A Compac dropped anchor in the creek and binoculars confirmed my suspicion. It was our very own Topsail. I motored out in the rib and Del welcomed me aboard. He gave me a tour of his 1989 27 and without a doubt it is the nicest 27 I have been on. The deck, cockpit, canvass and interior are spotless. The interior looks factory new. Not a scratch, dent, or discolor anywhere. The upholstery also looks new. We chatted while the rain fell and of course I was late returning as Joanie and I had to be somewhere. In fact, when I arrived home, Joanie was on the phone with the neighbor asking if they had seen me. The last Joanie saw, I was casting a net for shrimp off our dock. She didnt notice the dinghy gone and was worried something had happened to me.
Del had been out for awhile and still had other destinations to go. Del, if you read this, you need to srart posting about your adventures.
We discussed sailingvto Ocracoke next month. I do hope that takes place.

Del and me in his 27. Del is the good looking chap on the right.

It was great having Carl aboard. Vivie is a comfortable little boat and has taken us many places on the Neuse, Pamlico River, Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds, as well as near shore along the coast. I usually spend a week each month sailing, except for the few months when it's too hot or too cold. Oriental is the usual staging location since the boat is docked 4-5hrs upriver near New Bern. The best anchorage is near Carl's home on Greens Creek. Hopefully he can join me on some future trips. I'm not the prolific poster he is, so maybe he can capture some adventures as I tag along with him-
