Trailer bunks repair questions

I just got a 1979 CP 16 that has the Magic Tilt Trailer. One of the trailer bunks rotted and and the bracket is half gone. Here is my current good one, the stern one is missing the top U bracket for the wood to sit in. Anyone have a source for one?

My wood is 2x4s and 6' long. I have seen people with much longer bunks, so a couple questions:

How long are you using and what will you use if changing?
I have a local source for Poly 2x4s at the same price as PT 2x4s, any issues using Poly?
If I use Poly do I still need carpet?
I see people using pvc Pipe at the bottom for the keel, I have brackets to add pipes for that. Does it help?
Plan on removing the 3 rollers for a 2x12, but not for a while.

I have the exact year and make of trailer. I have the pvc guides and it does help guide the keel nicely up the trailer. Why remove the rollers and put a 2"x12" in place?  As for the broken bracket, you could easily have that fabbed up if you know someone with a welder.

I bought "spring hangers" from a trailer store that are galvanized and extra heavy duty for $7. The extra thickness will help being in saltwater. The only difference is they are flat and don't have the raised edges for the board to sit in. With 4 lag bolts I am not sure it matters but will look at making replicas.



Looking to remove rollers because they are worn and the 2x12 will spread the load on the keel I am told.

If possible it would be great to see a close-up of a pvc guide with the bracket section?

Here are some photos of the guides, it looks as if someone just bent the galvanized tubing in a vise and then mounted them. It also looks like they heated the PVC and bent them on an angle

That is an interesting way to do it. I am going to do it by heating the pvc for a bend in the bow sections but I will probably use an elbow or something for the galvanized pipe.
