Trailering an Eclipse

Anyone have the approximate dimensions of an Eclipse on a trailer with the mast down?  I am planning a south Florida to San Diego relocation on my boat and looking at the various options that exist for doing so. I will need dimensions--especially height from ground to highest point if I hire a shipper.  Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Hi,

 I can't attach the file because it is too big, but I have a sheet from the dealer here that is now closed.  It shows that the height on trailer is as 8'6" and length is 25'6".  Stock trailer.  YMMV.

I have a 10 ft overhead door in my pole barn and my eclipse just clears the door.  That said I have 13" tires and hydraulic disc brakes instead of the standard trailer.

Thanks to those of you who offered some much needed numbers and advice.  It looks like I will be loading the boat and trailer on a flatbed trailer with dual axles to make the ~2500 mile trip.  I don't trust my 20 year old Performance trailer to do such a long haul.

If its just the axles/bearings that concern you, you might consider taking it to an axle shop and have them service the bearings and inspect the axles and springs.

I like your idea and will pursue it.  Finding an axle shop may be a challenge in Vero Beach, Florida but I'll cast my search net over a larger area and hope to locate one.  Thanks for the possibility of saving some cash with that option.

If the trailer has the 10" wheels, I'd bring a couple of spares.  I had two blowouts before switching to 13" radials with D load rating.  I could never find 10" radial tires and bias ply just doesn't seem to comfortably carry this much weight at even moderate highway speed for long.  Or if you are stopping by a shop, make that switch while you're at it.  It requires new fenders but well worth it.

If you can't find an axle shop nearby, check the RV service companies, there should be lots of those in FL.  For that matter even an automotive shop can inspect and repack wheel bearings.

    remove one the hubs and take it to an auto parts store and get two new hubs. keep the old hubs put them in zip lock bags in case you have a problem. go with 13" radial tires
