Good Day All,

In general, do Horizons Cats with Diesels cost more, same, or less than equivalent condition HC with an outboard?

Thanks

I'm no authority on this, but looking at the posts in the archives, the diesel (several different models were used) cost in the $12,000 to $15,000 range. Tankage, drive shaft, prop, and support systems would be additional I'd assume.

That's a lot of outboards, I'm seeing in the 6-20 hp range.

Of course, it really depends on how you intend on using the boat if it's worth it for you. All things being equal, I have to assume the diesel would always be at a premium and my guess would be that the diesels hold their price better than an outboard model.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

Yeah on a new boat $12K to $15K is a significant premium.

I guess the counter argument to diesels is, as you mention, $12K to $15K buys a lot of outboards. :  )
