Water damage repairs?

Has anyone replaced the mast support woodwork (for lack of a better word) due to moisture or other damage? I am considering purchasing a 2005 Eclipse that is otherwise in good condition. Water leaked in from above and ruined the cabin sole and woodwork that the mast stub is anchored to.

I have not seen the boat in person yet and it's a long road trip to get there. I have done complete new wood interiors on a few sailboats, but want to know all I can about the particulars of the Eclipse. Thanks!

I have been sailing since the early 1970's. My favorite boat was whatever I could afford at the time! We have owned a couple of C16's, a Picnic Cat and a Suncat.

Consider buying my 2007 Eclipse with no water damage!   The pic looks to be a daunting task.  Additionally, this is evidence of water coming down the mast.  That means that is also was between the roof and cabin liner, likely causing damage where it exited near the cabin seats quarter berth.  Good luck with the rebuild.  Probably still a strong boat and perhaps worth your time and effort.  Sail On    Al

   i have to say that if it were me i would pass on that boat unless you love the work. sometimes it is smarter to buy something "turn key". i have owned and restored a number of classic vehicles and always made it a rule to stay away from "rust buckets" I fear that eclipse may be one. i would talk to al about his boat.
