Just had a new experience today. Two weeks ago I decided to take my boat out of the marina and store it on its trailer. As it turns out this was the same week my local lakes closed all the launch ramps for 30 days. The intent is to keep Golden Mussels from being introduced to new lakes. They inspect the boat and wire a red serial number between the boy eye and trailer. In 30 days you can come back and launch. As you leave the lake they attach a green serial number between the boat and trailer. This allows you to come back to the same lake anytime. If you launch somewhere else, including salt water, the whole process starts over. Eventually there will be a decontamination process with hot water, but the specifics on who will do this, and certify it, have not been worked out. It would be difficult to get up into the center board slot so not sure if that will be an issue. At my inspection yesterday they did not even ask about the slot. Mostly they just see ski boats.
