Hi, friends! The cold weather is really moving in where I live, so I've been getting my sailing fix through sailing blogs, podcasts, and YouTube channels. I didn't see a category for these things on the forum, so I hope it's okay that I'm posting this info here. Folks may already know about these, but just in case, I'm sharing links to some of the blogs, podcasts, and YT channels with which I'm familiar. I hope others might add your favorites to the list  —  I'm always looking for new sailing content to explore!

Hey Seachelle,

We haven't met but it appears we share many of the off season distractions when not sailing. Being an older usually single handing geezer, I particularly like Christian William's  perspective on things! I also, though not much this season, sail a Pacific Seacraft 31 in addition to our CP16. A great combination and as Crazy Carl has observed regarding his 19 vs his new tio him larger boat, there are many reasons as to why if we ever sell one it will be the 31! Love small craft. Maybe someday our paths will cross, meanwhile getting ready for ski season! Actually like winter!

Hey, Mas!

That is stellar about your Pacific Seacraft 31 and having your CP 16! I am on the hunt for a larger sailboat and I plan to keep my Legacy, too - she's an absolute gem and I see her as a boat that I can sail for years to come! (Fingers crossed!)

Oh, yes!!! Christian Williams - I just literally watched his new(er) video of this 3rd crossing from LA to Hawai'i and back. He was sailing his 1984 Ericson 38; the video was released just this past Oct. and the footage was of his crossing earlier this year. It was a really great video that he shared — I so enjoyed it! I also love seeing people sailing older boats - especially on a crossing like that! Speaking of age: Christian also mentions his age of 78 while on the passage to Hawai'i - so inspirational!

I love to ski, too, but my knees are telling me that I might want to take up cross-country now, instead - never had issues with my knees up until a few years ago. Cross-country skiing is fun, too — I live in an area where there is a lot of opportunity to have at it! 8)

Carl, that is so cool that you met Sam! I remember that he kept his Cape Dory 28 in Oriental before he set sail for his Atlantic crossing. I have always appreciated his humbleness and his ability to work hard to make his dreams realized!

Chelle:
Cross country is also a favorite of mine and we have lots of trails here in southern NJ. Now all we need is snow!! I'm hoping to visit Whitegrass resort in WV this winter. Maybe I'll catch up with Mas there and buy him a PBR!!  ;D
Ciao!

I totally hear ya on the knee thing! I also XC ski and in addition to downhill skiing have gone over to the Dark Side, snowboarding! Snowboarding is waaaay easier on knees and at my age has a 'cool' factor! Bob 23 has threatened more than once to meet me at Whitegrass for some XC and a beer, but so far all talk and in addition PBR is not beer! Sorry Bob!

Not to get off subject :-) I do more snowshoeing these days than cross country skiing - nothing like going out in a gentle snowfall and the absolute quietness of walking threw the woods
