Kev-
I see your'e doing homework on the Name. Compac Convergenace '07 sounds good. Whatever the name, let's do it. I almost made it to the Shoals yesterday but turned around and had the motorsail  of my life! July 14th ok for everyone? Hey, Fran, oh Fran, wherefore art thou? And, Steve, 7/14 ok?
A correction on my 6/02 post: the 25's draw about 3 feet, not 2 feet. Duh!
   Anchors Aweigh! Bob

Steve

All,
July 14th sounds good to me.
Steve

Bob23

Ok, it's coming together. Hey, Fran, I don't want to have Gypsy Soul pester you in person down there at Mariners so is 7/14 ok?
I just had a thought that this might interfere with the Blackburn Challenge but a quick visit to thier site proved me wrong..that's on 7/21. I won't row this year but I'd still like to observe.
   Hey...does anyone row out there?
   Another correction...the 25 draws 2'6"(thanks kev)

Ok guys,

July 14th sounds like a plan.  See you then!

Bob23

Aye, then July 14th it is, me mateys!! Now all we need is good weather...because of the the distance from my home port, I will probably make this an overnighter.
Another potential journey is the rounding of Cape Horn. It can be done in small boats such as ours; I plan on completing an east to west rounding this summer. Any takers? Can my 23 take the beating that is imminent? Only time will tell.
(Oh, this CH is in NJ, not South America. A bit closer and warmer, too.)

With the beginning of summer I thought it appropriate to bump the thread to remind everyone about the sail-to-gether in July. I believe we are still on but don't know any more details than that. I guess we'll wing it.

Kev:
As you know, I'll be there. Don't know what time, I'll shoot for an early am departure. I don't need too much of an excuse to sail.
Should be fun, checking out each others ships, hearing tales of near death experiences, etc. Maybe we can see who can make up the most outlandish fish-tale!
   Ciao!!!

Hey Guys,
Sounds like Bob, Fansbro, Kevin and Steve so far.  What's the itinerary?  I am contemplating the 11 hour drive from Michigan with my 19 and am wondering if its a one day sail and lunch or a weekend cruise.  I'm also surprised that there aren't more boats out there.  Does everyone know?
What would it be like if I came out and I wanted to overnight?  Are there guest slips?
Marcus

Bob23

Marcus:
Itinerary is laid back, as in none. I just came up with this on a whim- to get a bunch of Compac-tors together. We plan on meeting at a place called Tice's Shoals on Island Beach State Park in Barnegat Bay where we can anchor/raft up, walk across to the ocean and swim. There are no slips. In my opinion, this is a unique place here in NJ because it seems that everything in our state is regulated except for Tice's Shoals!
Is it worth it? Might be. We hope for good weather. On any summer weekend, there could be a hundred boats anchored there for fun, BBQ's, whatever.
I've got to sail from Surf City and plan on overnighting at TS.
TS, by the way is 39 degrees 48' N Lat; 74 degrees 06' W  Long.

Ok, we're comin' down to the home stretch. Accuweather says nice for Saturday; I'll see what NOAA has to say. I'll probably cast off Surf City around 6-7 am. I'll have the vhf set to channel 16. See you all there! Bob in "Koinonia"

Okay I should be ready to go. Picked up a new battery and plan on getting my lights working this evening and hooking up my VHS radio. Most likely won't leave the slip until 10 or so. I could plan earlier but I just know it won't ever happen.

Also my brother and his two sons will be joining us as well, he has a Skipper 20.
Hope to see you all on the water!

It's worth repeating that famous line from Back to the Future: "Be there or be square". So, Saturday morning, I'm gonna make like a tree and get of the there!

K3v1n

HOLY COW!
I think we have everything, boat sure will be packed.
Hope to have some pic's when we return.

Fairwinds!

Made it back...barely... into a mighty strong wind...stories to follow, for now here is a picture. I'm dead tired with a touch of seasickness.

Bob23's vessel in the background, my brother John's Skipper 20 next and my CP19 up close.
